Thomas Mallory (1566-1644) was a son of Sir William Mallory and Anne hiswife, daughter of Si r George Gale of York. This is confirmed by AlumniCambrensis (Vol. III, p. 1301), which st a t es he was son ofSir WilliamMallory of Studley, York. He matriculated at Cambridge, Mich elm as1582,from Trinity. He later received the degree of B.D. and was presentedwith the liv ing of Rolnaldskirk in the North Riding of York June 27,1599. In addition to Ronaldskirk , he a lso held livings at MobberleyArchdeacon of Richmond, November 16, 1603. On July 25 , 1607,he was madeDean of Chester. Later, on October 11, 1619, he purchased the advowson of Mobberley Church and became its parson in 1621. During the Civil War,Dean Mallory and hi s sons were active royalists in support of KingCharles I. In 1642 Dean Mallory was forced t o flee from his rectory atMobberley and took refuge in Chester. He died at Chester April 3 , 1644and is buried in the Quire of the Cathedral.
Dean Mallory married Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Vaughan, Bishop ofLondon (A.C. III, p . 1 3 0). Richard Vaughan matriculated at CambridgeNov. 16, 1569; B.A. St. Johns 1573/4; M. A. 15 7 7(A.C.),according toD.N.B. Vol. LVIII, p. 170).

The record says that Thomas Mallory, Dean of Chester, married Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Vaughan, Bishop of Chester, and died at the deanery house, April 3rd, 1644. He had the following children: (1) Richard (of Mobberley) eldest son; (2) William; (3) Thomas; (4) George, curate of Mobberley; (5) John; (6) Avery; (7) Everard; (8) Philip; (9) Jane, wife of John Halford / Hawford; (10) Katherine (Martha?) married John Batte; (11) Elizabeth, married Thomas Glover; (12) Mary, married Edward Wyrley.

Thomas received his B.A. degree at Trinity College, Cambridge University on 1582. He was ordained deacon and priest on 01 May 1595, instituted the the living of Ronaldskirk, Yorkshire 27 June 1599, where he resigned in 1621. Then he was appointed to the rectory of Davenham, Cheshire in 1600, admitted to the Archdeaconry of Richmond in 1603, where he resigned in 1607. He purchased the avowson of Mobberly, Cheshire 11 Oct 1619, and became its parson in 1621, where he took up residence. Due to his royalist sympathies, he was forced to flee Mobberly in 1642, and took refuge in Chester. Rev Thomas died at the Deanery House, Chester, and was buried in the quire of the Cathedral.
