Narrative

Rachel married Thomas J Kirtley in 1834. It is not know what happened, but apparently Rachel ran off with William R. Jones about 1835. Rachel and Thomas had one daughter, Lucy, who was adopted by her father, William Despain.

Rachel was identified as a daughter and heir of William in Deed Book 19, page 319.

1850 Census: Washington Twp, Buchanan Co, MO page 17, family #195
1860 Census: Pleasant Hill, Lane Co, OR page 270, family #442. They were living next to the Despains.
1870 Census: - Rachel was not with the family in the 1870 census. She may have died.
