        Luther Franklin Purvis, born 25 Nov 1845 in Bartholomew Co., IN, son of Luther Purvis and Nancy Jones. He died 1 Feb 1901. Served in Company G, 26th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War, and also served in the Regular Army as a Private in Battery K, 5th U.S. Artillery in Kentucky and Florida from June 1863 to Sept. 1868.
