Knight, Sheriff of Bedford & Buckingham

In 1242-43 he was holding Bletsoe and 1/5th fee in Cainhoe, Beds, and Pattishall, Northants, and with other property in both counites. He was sheriff of Beds and Bucks in 1258 and 1264 and of Northants 1259-1261. He sided with the Barons against the King and was in Northampton Castle with Simon de Montfort the younger in 1264 when it was attacked by the royalists; and joined in the defense of Kenilworth Castle in 1266. As a result his lands in Tolleshunt, Essex, Wattisfield, and Suffolk were seized by the Crown or his political opponents. He was pardoned by the King in March 1267/68.
