Narrative

Besides his wife Adelien, he is said to have another wife Matilda the daughter of Ralph Lord of Drayton in Staffordshire. But this cannot be true: for in the 26th year if King Henry William de Heriz being dead without issue. Robert his brother and heir part an hundred ponds for livery of his inheritance and the William married Matilda Basset had issue; which issue enjoyed, under an initial part of the lands if the last Ralph Lord Basset of Drayon.

Adleine the wife of William de Heriz survived him 25th Henry II gave a fine to the King of 100 marks that she might not be compelled to marry another person that such as the should choose.
