Lyon, Patrick 1 2a

Birth Name Lyon, Patrick
Gender male
Age at Death about 45 years, 11 months, 18 days

Narrative

Patrick followed James VI to London when he became King of England (as James I) following the death of Elizabeth I. The king made Patrick the first Earl of Kinghorne in 1606. It may well be that Patrick met William Shakespeare at the court of James I. If so, then he could be the one who gave the bard the idea of making Glamis Castle the setting for the murder of King Duncan in his play MACBETH.

MACBETH
was probably written and meant to be performed for King James I, Shakespeare?s patron. James was fascinated by the occult and believed himself to be a descendant of Banquo, Macbeth?s companion.
