Narrative

Sir Edward, Knight of Poynton, Baron of Stockport, High Sheriffof Cheshire, England, was born in 1563 and died November 13,1609. He was the seventeenth in lineal descent from William Warren the first Earl of Warren and Surry who married Gundred,the daughter of William the Conqueror.Sir Edward married three times. He had no issue by his first wife, Margaret Fitton, daughter of Sir Edward Fitton. He married secondly Anne, circa 1581, daughter of Sir William Davenport of Bramall. William, their fifth child was in Virginia between 1633 and 1640. John, the eldest son of this marriage, died in 1621, married Ann, daughter of George Ognal.She died at Stockport September April 20, 1644. They had a son,Edward, born May 10, 1605 and buried at Stockport September 10,1687 ( one report said 1667) who married Margaret Arderne,daughter of Henry Arderne. They also had a son John, baptized in 1606, who died unmarried. He was living in St. Mary's County Maryland in 1642. He was killed by Captain Thomas Corwallis and party in 1644. Edward and Margaret had eight children:Sir Edward was married 3 times. His first wife was the daughter of Edward Fitton. There is no record of them having any children.Now for the interesting part. He married Ann Davenport as his second wife. Their first born son, John,died young. He named his second son John who is the descendentsof the Warren line in Maryland.He married Susan Booth as his third wife.         Sir Edward was the son of John Warren, De Poynton, Baron of Stockport and Lady Margaret Molineux.

        He was M. P. for Liverpool, 1589 and was admitted to Gray's Inn, February 26, 1588-9. He was High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1597 and towards the end of Queen Elizabeth's reign, was in the Irish Wars, where he was Knighted, on July 22, 1599 by Robert, Earl of Essex, lord lieutenant. He was secretary and deputy to the Earl of Derby, who was the seneschal of King James in 1603.

        He married three times. He married first Joan Fitton on July 22, 1574 in Prestbury, England. Sir Edward married secondly Anne Davenport on October 16, 1581 in Poynton, Cheshire, England and had 11 children:
