Event Note
Burial: (Tonieville map, Section 24-M-45 Carter coordinates) The church and the cemetery are located just west of Tanner. The church was established in 1850 and was used as a hospital by the Union army in the Civil War. The church appears to be descended from the Hopewell Baptist Church that was established near the present cemetery in the early 1840’s. The cemetery dates back to the 1840’s. Several old soldiers are here including Burr Sympson, Charles Hornback, Andrew Hornback, Alfred Hornback, James Middleton, William Routt, Thomas Obrien, Thomas Phelps, Samuel Phelps, James Corum, Henry Corum and Napoleon Ireland. ---
