        The News-Journal, Thursday, November 29, 1951
        Funeral services for Jim Tom Sprowles, 67 years of age, were held Thursday, November 22 at 11 a.m. from the Zion Separate Baptist Church with the Rev. J. H. Bloyd and Rev. Jimmy Bonta in charge of the services. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Dencie, Odell, Irvin, Russell, Winfred, and Blevins Sprowles. Mr. Sprowles, son of the late Jessie and Mary Shofner Sprowles, was born December 18, 1883 [1884?] in Taylor County, Ky. He died Tuesday, November 20 at 9:20 a.m. at the Rosary Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past three years. He united in marriage to Miss Mattie Thompson in 1903 and to this union five sons and one daughter were born. Surviving are Willie, Claude, and Junior Sprowles, all of Taylor County; Mrs. Jessie Underwood, Everette Sprowles, and Archie Sprowles, all of Larue County. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Beatrice Warren and Eddie Sprowles, both of Taylor County, and Walter Sprowles of New Albany, Ind. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Kentucky Death Records Index, rootsweb
