Narrative

Surname was spelled "Tooker". Robert became a freeman of the city of Exeter, in 1514 by paying one pound. He served in the Spanish Wars of 1512. He established himself as a baker and brewer in Exeter. Robert was appointed Sherriff in 1539 and Mayor in 1543. In 1538, first Tucker to be given a coat-of-arms, entitling him to gentleman status. Was buried at St. Mary Major which was destroyed during World War II. Robert Tucker compiled his will in 1546. A copy survives on the Mayor's Court Rolls at the Devon England Record Office.
