Pioneer: Joshua came from Virginia in mid--1700's when he purchased land on New River called "Hickory Bottoms" near the mouth of Stagg's Creek, in what would later be called Ashe County, N. C. (According to Wilkes Co., N.C. records.)
1749--52: Sons found on Tithes Lists in Lunenburg County. Son, Samuel, served in Militia in various areas.
Active in Land transactions.
Found on Tithes Lists in King William Parish, Goochland Co., Va. Samuel, Sr. and Jr found on various purchases of land together.
1767 Pittsylvania Tax List: Isaac, Joshua and Moses McDaniel appear as neighbors.
Moses appears as a resident Wilkes Co. on the 1787 N.C. Census as a neighbor of William.
Moses is the Father of Rachel?
Isaac Weaver, Sr., William's brother, appears on several rosters for Montgomery County Virginia in Capt. Enoch Osborne's Company.
Isaac was appointed Capt. of a Militia Co. after the Revolution.
He appears as a private soldier and tradition has it that this Militia served in the Battle of King's Mountain.
It was fought by private soldiers like Isaac.
Joshua and William were also compensated for services from Revolutionary War accounts.
They may have also been in the Battle of Kings Mountain.
No other records could be found for Joshua or William though.
1778, March 4: Joshua became one of the first men to legally enter land west of the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
Grant #31- Hickory Bottom: Joshua Weaver.
Appeared in Wilkes Co., Tax Lists of 1782, 1784, 1785, 1786, and 1787.
Likely in Pittsylvania Co., VA as early as 1762.
