Narrative

ALBERT A. PEPPER is found in family 790 in the 1860 census. He enrolled in the Union Army on Sept. 1, 1862. He was a private in Company K, 26th Ky. Infantry. He was described as 29 years old, 5 ft. 5 inches tall, gray eyes, black hair and fair akin. He was born in Green County and he farmed near Mt. Sherman. He died in a military hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. of measles on November 29, 1864. He is believed buried in the Mt. Sherman cemetery. Albert was married to Mary Ford, daughter of John Ford, and she survived him. She filed for a pension in January of 1865. John Ford in also buried in the Mt. Sherman cemetery and has a headstone, whereas, Albert does not. The commissioners overlooked him when doing their inventory.

In the 1860 LaRue County Census, Albert Peppers was family 790. He was 30 years old and was living next door to his parents. His wife, Mary, was 18. They had two children: Jane, 2; and Mary, 3 months.
