He was twice appointed postmaster at Bellmore and was serving in that capacity at the time of his death. His was the life of a consistent member of the Knights of Pythias and Red Men's orders. He firmly believed in their tenents and teachings. He had faith in his friends, his country and his God and as such a man he will be missed. A friend suggests this quotation as exemplifying his life: "He was gentle, the elements of greatness and sweetness were so wrapped up in him that all the world might stand and say, "This was a man."" Mr. Sharp was born in Russellville but later moved with his parents to Waveland. While living here he fell from the runway in the rear of his father's shop, the present Poney Moody house on to a rock and suffered a compound fracture of the left arm. It became necessary to amputate the limb above the elbow. Notwithstanding this handicap he became an expert painter and decorator.
