Having just gone through that , I can't help but contribute.
I got some brackets with mine. A pair of drives is joned at the top using the
3mm mounting holes and the bracket. The allignment of the US holes on the
bottom of one of the drives is now exactly where the old single drive holes
were. This means that only one of the pair is fastend to the frame directly,
but it works fine. I selected a format that is compatible with the 48 tpi and
thus needs no new ROM. By using 80 tracks on one side out to in and 80 tracks
on the other in to out, the prom need not know of 96tpi. I even run the NS DOS
( a very old version) unmodified using 40 tracks on each side. (since the 55F
drives can seek in 3 MS vs 6 MS for the tandon 100-2's I don't notice the long
seeks that result. The depth problem disturbs me as I hate to have things
crammed in.... I am going to replace the cable because I still have one old
tandom full height and the cable is stretched. I mounted the teac drives
"upside down" but will reverse when get new cable.
