Hi,

I recently bought an Apple IIgs ROM 01 and wanted to ask for some advice replacing the battery.

The battery on my IIgs appears to be different from others that I have seen online. I'm guessing that it's not the original (different brand and 3V vs 3.6V), however it looks to be quite old -- I don't see a date but it says "Made in West Germany" on it.

Here are the details:

VARTA
Lithium 3V
ER 1/2 AA
Ord. No. 6126
Made in West Germany

I don't have huge confidence in my soldering skills and I'd like to replace the battery in a manner that minimizes risk of damage to the motherboard.

I was looking online and found the ReActiveMicro ROM0/1 Battery Caddy that uses 2 AAA batteries:

https://www.reactivemicro.com/product/battery-iigs-rom0-1-ca ddy/

I was wondering if anyone had experience with this approach or would have alternative recommendations regarding battery replacement?

I'm also curious -- is it possible that the battery is original?

Thanks very much!

Simon
