OK, OK, I'm sorry! I got quite a bit of mail in response to my
flaming about getting flames about posting software. I admit, my
reponse could have been nicer, although it was intended as humorous.
But why did I flame that way?

It's getting to the point where you can't post ANYTHING on the net
without getting some sort of hate mail. If you put Mac sources in
net.sources, you're deluged with hate mail saying that net.sources is
for UNIX sources only. If you post to fa.info-mac, you're told that
only ARPA net stuff should go there. If you post to net.micro.mac,
people complain because their daily printouts are too long.

And it's not just net.micro.mac - I know some people in my company who
will not post anything because they got hate mail the last time and
they don't want it again. When we start keeping people off the net
with our own ideas of how the net should be run, we're only depriving
ourselves of their input.

I've been on this net for three years, and I've found that it works
best when left to whatever people want to do with it. SO WHAT if a
source gets posted twice! If only one person didn't get the first
one, then it's worth posting again. And SO WHAT if discussions of
scuba-diving somehow end up in net.religion.jewish - it all just makes
for an interesting net.

As a Macintosh user and lover, I want to see EVERYONE posting and
contributing software and reviews and tips, etc. The Mac section of
the net is becoming one of the more active, and I want to keep it that
way. Otherwise it will end up like so many other groups where
everyone is constantly bickering and people start unsubscribing.

So, again, I'm sorry for my earlier posting - it was out of line
(especially to hokey and Spencer). Let me call a truce and let's get
on with the business of swapping Mac stuff!

Oh, I'm so happy to see net.sources.mac! Let's use it!
