This weekend comes MEGACON. One in a series of nationwide big box conventions that have both proven profitable and vast in its heart and soul. Back in the day when there were only fan-run conventions, the likes of SHORELEAVE and FARPOINT in Baltimore, STARFEST in Denver and I-CON in New York (all which still exist, btw), there came an idea by big money-players to join the ranks. Thus the big box cons were "created". MEGACON remains one of those boxes that still retains the heart of the fans and the soul of its convictions. It has proven it can provide the fun while still remain profitable to return each year.

Amongst the number of panels I will be moderating this weekend is the Saturday evening exclusive event: The reunion of the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. They have been touring during most of 2012 and will land amongst us this weekend.

Sir Patrick Stewart and his close friendship with the TNG cast will be displayed in what will be the perennial event of the weekend. I have worked with them all both nationally and internationally and look forward to seeing them once again since my last appearance with them in December in New Orleans. Watching the camaraderie, the jokes, the nit-picking and the lies told on each other during this segment will be classic and this is indeed an ultra rare gathering which had not included Denise or Wil in the past due to availabilities. This will be epic!

My other moderating duties for the weekend will include Harry Potter's The Weasley Twins, Dean Cain, The Star Wars panel and Wil Wheaton himself. It will be both exciting and hectic and my stress level will be at an all time high for the week. I will enjoy the pain.

MEGACON is also known for its massive draw of the anime programming and with the "Shatner" of all anime VIC MIGNOGNA in attendance, a huge contingency of cos-players will be everywhere. The artists and the vendors and the droids floating around, this IS the convention you are looking for. Not since Orlando's CELEBRATION IV will we see such a bevy of quality recreations based on fan favorites and costuming is a very deep and heartfelt exhibition of what fandom is all about. With all the daytime and nighttime events happening during and for MEGACON, you can go to the beach or theme park on another day.
