I would have to agree that Dungeon Explorer II is a tough US Turbo game to
get. You can usually find it on the bay of E, but you're usually not paying
less than $80 for it. Cotton seems tough to get nowadays as well, though not
nearly as tough to get as Panorama Cotton for the MD, but I digress. Tough to
find Japanese Duo games are usually like Sapphire, Legend of Xanadu II and in
some respects Dracula X--though the demand for that one will prolly wane
dramatically when and if it does show up on the PSX.

As far as rarity goes, that's kinda hard to gauge unless you have a specific
number to deal with as to how many copies of the were made in its print run.
You can try to gauge it by the price that is demanded for the game. You
usually don't see Sapphire or Xanadu II go for less than 3 digits, but that
doesn't necessarily mean that the game is rare; could be just high in demand
and out of print.

I really shouldn't say too much on this matter for I'm not much of a
collector, I'm more of a gamer first. I'll track down a rare game if it is a
good game. I won't care if the rare game is crap. So I'll shut up now.

Would you beleive that I found Xanadu II for $42. Now that was a nice
find. Do you think maybe the demand is dropping for the game? Ehh, I
kind of think it was just a fluke. Either way, I'm happy with it. =P

If demand is dropping, I need to keep an eye out. I reeeeaaally want that
game.

I never thought Xanadu II commanded a high price. ~$50 would be what I'd
call normal->high end. But I got my brand new copies about two years ago
for Y980 ea. Most stores where I lived in Japan have old old stock that
they don't get rid of, but simply keep marking the items down. :p

wow, now I feel like a big 'ol dork for thinking $42 was a good deal.
Maybe when I (hopefully) visit Japan this summer (going to school
abroad), I might just find some deals as nice as that. The way it
sounds though, game prices in Japan have been going up a little lately.
Ah whatever, it'll still be, more often than not, less expensive there
than in the US.

I think $42 for the game is a good deal. I never saw Xanadu II after I
bought mine, so I was just lucky. Actually, I bought Xanadu 1 and 2
there. Incidentally, the chain of stores totally closed down, so I didn't
have a chance to buy more of their stock for cheap.

Well, if you manage to go to Japan, make sure you hit Akiba or Nihonbashi
area... if you can't I suggest visiting as many used book stores and toy
stores as possible. :)

You'd think so, but lately you can get pc-e games
on ebay for about what you would pay for them in japan,
sometimes even cheaper. The interest has really died
down in the past 2 years or so. That and people finally
realized that every game on ebay wasnt actually RARE.
A little over 2 years ago, pc-e games were going for
ridiculous prices - Tokimeki over $100, Sailor Moon $60
(a 300yen game), to name a few. Now, most games are
going for $10 to $20 cheaper. (I just saw a Tokimeki
go for $6). Same could be said for the PC-FX too.
Those systems used to go for over $300.
