This is being posted for a friend.. (Sure. That's what they all say.)

Anybody know of typesetters (or incredibly intelligent word processors)
for writing techincal papers (I.E. Equations and other ugly things)
are available for STs?

In our theaters and bookstore shelves.
Those who know what's best for us,
Must rise and save us from ourselves.

I have heard of 2:
Andra S/T from Tdi Software
Typesetter S/T from Xlent software.
however i have not tried either. From the publicity material Andra S/T
seems more like what you are looking for.
