Sources should go in net.sources or mod.sources.
If you think people in net.roots would be interested in your
source, post a little note saying "Look in net.sources to get this
great program". You can even make your note a followup to your
source posting (change the Newsgroups: line and maybe subject),
so people can just follow the References: line up to the source
article (in vnews, the "p" for parent command).
There are a few reasons for this:
* Lots of sites automatically archive net.sources, so if you post in
net.roots, they won't keep a copy of your source.
* Lots of sites don't receive net.sources *deliberately* because
they want to keep their phone bills down.

protocol for posting sources is in there.
