  • The X-Files season 11 is a sure thing and here are the first details

We may have to wait until next year to get our latest installment of cult classic The X-Files, but the first details of its 11th season are already starting to emerge.

Following confirmation that Mulder and Scully will be back next year for another run, writer and producer Glen Morgan has teased what fans can expect from the new season.

And, as it turns out, it’ll be much of the same mystery and intrigue – which is just how we like it.

Chatting to Den of Geek, Morgan also confirmed that he’ll be writing two episodes for the upcoming season, after the success of season 10’s ‘Home Again’.

Revealing that his brother Darin will also write again for the series, Glen said: “I’m going to do two, and I know what one is.”

On his return to the sci-fi drama, he added: “It’s the same as it’s been for 20 years. Everyone gets along, it’s like a family.”

Fox recently confirmed that The X-Files will return to screens next year with a 10-episode run, compared to last season’s six.

  • X-Files Season 11 Set For Midseason

The truth is out there for at least 10 more episodes. The X-Files Season 11 will arrive in 2018, Fox confirmed. The fact that they’re offering fans a larger episode count than we got with Season 10, which only had six episodes, is a good sign. Here’s what we know so far:

    X-Files Season 11 Release Date:

Ahead of Fox’s upfront presentation in New York, the network announced The X-Files season 11 will air midseason. The revival aired in the coveted post-NFC championship game slot in 2016 to big ratings. We’ll see if Fox chooses to go that route again.

    X-Files Season 11 Writers

Aside from Chris Carter, it’s still too early to know who will be returning to The X-Files to write for the new season. We do know the season will shoot in the late summer, which frees up Glen Morgan, who is currently working on an adaptation of the popular Lore podcast for Amazon. Morgan wrote and directed “Home Again” in season 10.

As faith would have it, Den of Geek had the opportunity to speak with former X-Files executive producer and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan the day after Fox confirmed an eleventh season of The X-Files. Despite his busy schedule, Gilligan said he would “love” to write for the X-Files again if he had the time. He confirmed that no one from the X-Files had contacted him about returning, though.

    X-Files Season 11 Episodes

The X-Files Season 11 will air 10 episodes in 2018.

“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” David Madden, president, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement. “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

  • X-Files Season 11 Confirmed! 10 More Episodes Coming

The truth is out there for at least 10 more episodes. The X-Files Season 11 will arrive some time later this year, or in early 2018, Fox confirmed. The fact that they’re offering fans a larger episode count than we got with Season 10, which only had six episodes, is a good sign.

Even before The X-Files returned in 2016 to strong ratings, the narrative over at Fox seemed to be that Carter, Anderson, and David Duchovny had a greenlight for more episodes or another “event series” if they wanted it.

The issue, of course, is finding time to fit eight episodes into Anderson and Duchovny busy work and travel schedules.

“We would have liked to have done more [episodes] in the first place,” Fox TV CEO Dana Walden told TV Line last August. “It was really the limitations of David and Gillian and Chris’ schedules. Gillian lives in the UK, David lives in New York and California, and we do the show in Vancouver. Chris lives up north. So it was just trying to coordinate a time where they all carve out a period to be in Vancouver.”
