Castlevania: Bloodlines (Sega Genesis)

The original Castlevania series spanned 24 games from 1986 to 2008. The series hopped from system to system over the years but for the most part, each game was only available on a single system. Castlevania: Bloodlines was published in 1994 and was (if I am counting right) the 11th game in the series. Bloodlines has the distinction of being the only Castlevania release for the Sega Genesis.

For those not familiar with the Castlevania series, they are typically side-scrolling platform games in which the player controls Simon Belmont, famous vampire hunter or one of his descendants or other relatives depending on the game. Typically, you start off with your trusty whip and can obtain power-ups and various other weapons through the course of the game. Bloodlines generally got great reviews and overall is an excellent entry in the series.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to track down an original to play this one or find an emulator. The series continued for many games after this one and was even rebooted a number of years back with the most recent Castlevania game being released in 2014. However, this particular iteration is still exclusive to the Genesis.
