Lines: 31 I have an aging Sperry IT that I'm trying to keep usable. I recently got a 101-key keyboard (a Fujitsu) that I'm currently using. However, I have an annoying problem: when I power up the machine, about half of the time the POST prints "E-KB20" and beeps many times. The machine boots OK otherwise, and the keyboard works OK except for the cursor and numeric keypads, which seem to have swapped identities (e.g. if Num Lock is on and I press the left arrow key on the cursor keypad, I get a '4'; the numeric pad causes cursor motion regardless of the state of Num Lock). So the obvious question is: is there anything I can do between the extremes of living with it and buying a new motherboard? My proms say "V1.48F", in case there are any Sperry IT gurus out there. I saw a posting a while ago that mentioned that the kb could be powering up too quickly, missing a handshake with the system; the solution being to put a larger capacitor on the reset line of the ctrlr in the keyboard. I did open my keyboard but could not find a data sheet to tell me which pin on the 8051 is the reset line. Thanks, Steve ------------------------- reinhard@samsung.com
