I am not a hardware person, but wouldn't the device consist of mostly of a couple of analog-to-digital converters whose digital outputs are connected to the RxD pins of a couple of SCC's? RS-232 to audio could be accomplished similarly: TxD pins connected to digital inputs of a couple of digital-to-analog converters. At a sample rate of 19200 Hz, I could easily get a broadcast quality recording. It would probably also require some RAM/ROM and a fairly stupid processor (for initializing the SCC's and for handling the interleaving of data for the right and left sides) and a third SCC for communication with the UNIX machine. I would like to be able to plug two microphones directly into the audio-to-rs-232 device and connect the rs-232-to-audio device into the AUX inputs of my receiver via standard interconnect cables. Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Michael Thompson ..sun!altos86!mickey mickey@altos86.COM
