Summary: Writing a Geos application for modem communication

I am wondering about what it takes to write a remote communcation package
for Geos. I have no experience with writing for Geos and first would like
to know about what kind of assembler is necessary for the job. Second, I
envision a program which will make use of a smart modem by providing menus
to make settings. Also, I would like to have the same screen swapping
available in Geowrite, rather than a wrap around mode as I now have or the
nanopoint 80 character emulation. Lastly, it would be great to have a
redirection to my printer rather than my disk.

Now, I realize this is only a pipedream, and that kermit and other
communications programs exist, but let me dream. If you have any ideas,
send me e-mail and I will try to summarize them into an article.
