They both generate the same *type* of signal (analog time-constant), but not over the same range nor in the proper directions. That is, if you hook up a 1351 mouse to Koala applications software, the pointer will move, but not over the whole screen and not in the same direction as you push the mouse. Also, the algorithms used by Koala software to position and filter the pointer motion rely on absolute values of pad input (i.e. so you can pick up the pen and put it down somewhere else without sliding it all the way), while the recommended method for use with the mouse is to maintain absolute position within the software based on deltas generated by the mouse (where deltas of 1 are to be ingored); for this reason, the pointer on Koala software is generally jittery when you try to use the mouse with it.
