Sending unnecessary cookies on a HP terminal is inadvisable due to the terrible amount of time that it takes the HP terminals to process highlight commands (especially the newer 239X series). This problem was fixed in GNU Emacs with version 18.39 Beta. The current versions (18.41 or 18.44) work fine. If you don't have a newer version and can't get it, let me know and I'll send you a fix. If you are running a version of HP-UX prior to 5.22, you will need to add sg#0 to you terminfo entry. We are able to run 2932 terminals off of a 350 w/98642 mux at 9600 baud with no lossage.
