Message-ID: <1346@uwmacc.UUCP> Date: Thu, 1-Aug-85 16:30:10 EDT Article-I.D.: uwmacc.1346 Posted: Thu Aug 1 16:30:10 1985 Date-Received: Sat, 3-Aug-85 08:17:02 EDT Distribution: net Organization: Ken Kopp's Fresh Seafood Tank Lines: 26 Xref: linus net.graphics:953 net.misc:6857 net.theater:63 A friend of mine who is an actor with American Players Theatre, and who does a lot of their battle choreography is interested in whatever might be available in computer graphics in simulating human body movements. For instance, it would be nice if a person could have his or her muscles hooked up to a computer, do some kind of thrust with an epee, and have the movement then reproducible on command on some kind of graphics terminal. Then, as part of training actors to do battle scenes, various maneuvers could be studied without consuming nearly as much time in personal tutoring with the combat instructor. What I'm looking for are pointers to similar things which have been done in choreography, medicine, or whatever. Naturally, it would be great to hear that someone is already working on an identical problem. Pointers to university programs, reports in magazines, or anything else you might feel would be of use will be greatly appreciated -- thanx in advance!
