The next man, Kye Waltermire, was still in sixth place and just getting out of Virginia. The women's race is going down to the wire. Sue Notorangelo passed Shelby Hayden-Clifton sometime Tuesday night. At the checkpoint in Bentonville VA Wednesday morning, Sue (in 4th overall) was about 2.5 hours ahead of Shelby in fifth. Elaine Mariolle holds in 7th place about 6 hours behind Sue and about 4 hours ahead of the current 8th-place rider. All three women should finish sometime Thursday morning, under the 48-hour cutoff on the men's timing. It looks like no more than 8 riders in total will make that cutoff.
