I hope all of you out there in netland find this true-life story as funny
as I did when my friend told me.
This couple (a doctor and his wife) were having some company over one night,
and they decided to serve a very fancy salmon dinner for them. So they
prepared the meal and set it on the table a short time before the guests were
due to arrive. The couple went upstairs to change their clothes and when
they returned downstairs they noticed a few nip marks that their cat had
made on the salmon. Since it was now only a few minutes before dinnertime,
they had no alternative but to try to patch it up so it wouldn't be noticed.
The meal went fine, but near the end the doctor was called to the local
hospital on an emergency call. As he was leaving he saw his cat lying
dead by the side of the driveway. When he returned he sheepishly confessed
that his cat had eaten some of the salmon and now the cat was dead so that
everyone had to go down to the hospital to have their stomachs pumped to get
rid of the bad fish. Well, upon their return home, the doctor and his wife
were met by their next-door neighbor, who apologized profusely and wanted
to know what he could do for them because he had run over their cat!!!
