We talk to our feed via uucp (Berkely version 5.1). We often can get a connection but we have a high rate of failure when it comes to file transfer. That is, we start a file transfer and midway we get some sort of ASSERT error. It is either TIMEOUT, or PKCGET or PKXSTART return -1. I found that we get some occasional read errors in the routine pkcget. One of the errors is EWOULDBLOCK, the other is EIO. I understand the errors but I would like some means of recovery. This has become quite frustrating to us as we have a very difficult time pulling the news across from our feed. Any suggestions or fixes or any similar problems? I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice you could lend me. Perhaps there is some other more reliable (if it is indeed a problem with the software) file transfer program. Please mail all replies. Thanks. -- root {ihnp4,noao,mcnc,utah-cs}!arizona!byucsa!root
