                   ------------------------

               RAVI SHASTRI EQUALS SOBERS' RECORD

In a recent West Zone Ranji Trophy league match, R.J.Shastri
equalled Sobers' record of hitting 6 sixers in an over. The
match was Bombay vs Baroda and the unfortunate bowler was the
left-arm spinner, Tilak Raj. Bombay was 398 for 5 with Shastri
on 147 when the assault began. Shastri nearly missed the feat
when Raj bowled the last ball wide on the leg side on purpose.
But luckily for him, he didn't miss it. In all, Shastri's
innings contained 13 sixers, which bracketed him along with
Majid Khan (13 sixers in 1967 against Glamorgan) and Greenidge
	(13 sixers against Pakistan in 1974). Shastri's unconquered 200
came in 113 min. off 123 balls, the fastest in the National
	tournament.
