The Advent 400 speaker was an excellent small extension speaker with a smooth
clear sound and remarkable bass for its size ( about 11" x 5" x 6" ). It was
a one-way design ( 4" cone ) with a contour network and it came in a white
plastic enclosure. I have never heard as good a speaker in its price/size
class, and it was discontinued ( along with its companion FM mono radio
receiver ) when Advent went out of business. Does anyone know of anything
comparable that is available now? Has anyone tried building a project
similar to it? One of the tricks Advent used was a low-efficiency driver
for extended bass ( one review measured 70 hz., probably "Audio" magazine ).
Maybe many of the net.audio users own this speaker and would like to comment
on its performance.
