My question is, does the expected discount change for a special-ordered car compared to one already on the lot? Can you get a better discount on a car already there, or does it not matter much? Notice that I said "special-ordered", as in "from the factory", as in "domestic US manufacturers only" (I think). I plan to special-order a Lancer, the reason for my question. I can summarize to the net any responses mailed to me, and I'm mainly interested in your true-life experiences in dealing with the dealers.
