I think you missed my point.  As long as the US is "strong" (let's
not argue about this; it belongs in net.politics), and has the 
*will* to use its strength, I don't perceive much of a threat.
As I have already said, I am concerned that a weak-willed leader
will entice the Soviets into miscalculation.  So, at least until
1988, I will sleep easily at night.

I also dispute your claim that our society is self-centered, 
with no concern for the future; but this definitely belongs
in net.politics (or net.flame).

Apologies to those who see no relevance in this note to net.singles
(I admit, there is little.)
