I asked my sales rep if FPS could come in with their own VMS tapes and
bring up VMS on my system (I have a "licence to copy", whatever that
means) for purposes of diags.  He sounded vaugely agreable and said he
would look into it.  He said that their install team includes a software
guy who should be able to do the VMS install himself.  This still means
I have to backup my whole ra-81, and re-install from scratch, but at
least it's better than buying VMS for a 1-time use.  He also made some
noise about planned Unix diags.
