Our 4.2 crashes when trying to use EMC 2Meg boards as the upper 4meg
of an 8 meg system (whereas VMS would run) -- has been solved. We
did in fact have a bad EMC board (why VMS ran and reported no memory
errors must be due to "luck" in positioning code in the memory??)
The DEC microdiagnostics #3 showed NO errors, and the speed at which
the diagnostic runs (too fast) leads one to believe the testing
is only cursory. The problem was isolated by swapping the DEC and
EMC boards around. EMC does provide 24hr replacement service,
so the problem was quickly corrected when it was finally identified.
No problems since.
