But why does spanking need to be the negative reinforcment? Katie is lucky to have a Dad that loves her so! There are Other Negs, but spanking is (or I think should be) the Last Recourse. It is "needed" when nothing else works (Kid:"So you're serious; who cares?"), it can be fast (stimulus:response within 3 seconds)! My observation is that daughters tend towards less or more cautious defiancs than sons, especially after a single "spank" (i.e. One Swat). What are your observations? Rick
