On a recent trip to Lake Tahoe with another mathematician, I was
informed that someone published a mathematical analysis of poker
after von Neumann and Morganstrein (sp) in their game theory book
ca. 1946. I have not work on game theory since I was an undergrad.

Working out the mathematics to dice for a games such as backgammon
or craps does not take very long, I did a short paper on the math
of backgrammon and turned up several small surprises for some
backgammon experts. Working out the statistics for a deck of
cards takes a bit longer.

Does anybody known the SIAM reference? I was informed that this paper
changed the entire character of the way Blackjack was played. No
gambling intended!
