The general consensus was good. Some said the Sabre 700 is underpowered, others said it is more than enough power (especially for a first bike). Most who owned a Sabre were happy with it, and some even said would they buy another. The going price for an '84 Sabre 700 is $2900 (Honda's price, no discount). This is $500 less than the '85, and there are very few differences (new seat, different instrumentation, etc.). The '84 seems like the best bet. Last weekend I visited a Yamaha dealer who was trying to talk me out of the Sabre (I guess that's why I went there; hear their side of the story). He was trying to sell me on an '83 Vision. They are leftover and selling for $2200. The are water cooled, dual front disks, 550 V-twin with a full fairing (much like the Interceptor). He told me it will do a 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds (plenty fast for me if this is true). I have not been able to find any information on the bike though. Has anyone heard of it and/or know anything about it? Why did Yamaha stop manufacturing it; was it a failure? What is the difference in performance between a V4 and a V-twin? This bike would end up being over $1000 cheaper than the Sabre (after I put a fairing on it).
