In an attempt to add some light without adding more heat to this
nearly burned-out discussion, may I simply point interested readers
to a book I found yesterday: "Without Spanking or Spoiling," by
Elizabeth Crary, published by Parenting Press in Seattle, WA, for
$7.95. It's sub-titled something like "a guide to pre-school
guidance," and covers the different stages in child development, and
a variety of techniques for shaping your child's behavior without
violence. Looked pretty good to me.
