This all took place a couple years ago. My SO and I had been
going out for about 4 months at the time Susan (Virginia's best
friend) broke up with her boyfriend (Steve -- my best friend and
roommate -- but that's a whole other story!) Steve was real good
(platonic) friends with Virginia (are you keeping all these names
straight?), and it was the same with Susan and me. The four of us
had been very close and done alot of things together, so at the end
of Steve and Susan's romance, things became kind of sticky.

It was suddenly a threesome of Virginia and me and either Steve
or Susan. Susan was feeling real upset about the breakup, and needed
alot of sympathy and support. I found out that she wanted more of this
from me than from Virginia. When Virginia wasn't around, she was
completely different towards me. One thing led to another...

Well, Virginia soon found out what was going on. It didn't bother
her too awfully much, but the little three-way "dates" kind of slowed
down. Susan was really a neat person, and my SO and OSO slowly changed
places. I've always thought that friendship should always come before
SOship, and my relationship with Susan turned out to be a real good one.
Susan and Virginia drifted apart during all this, and that really
bothered me. I kept in contact with Virginia, and still went out with
her, but the three of us were never together.

Susan and I dated for about a year, then mutually decided to go
our own ways. The strange thing is, I'm still real good friends with
Virginia and Steve, but Susan seems to have found a new set of friends.

What's the moral of the story? I don't know, there's got
to be something interesting in there...
