I have often wondered what >the Usenet people look like. For some, I know how they think. Actually, this is an ongoing process-- as people take trips around the country they seem to track down other net readers when they get there. It IS a lot of fun, too-- I spent a fascinating evening with Rich Rosen a little while ago. Two other things come to mind for meeting people: 1) Conferences: Lots of net users go to places like Usenix or Uniforum. Try to schedule something with a group before you go, and advertise on the messages board. A group of 10-12 can get together for an evening that way. 2) regional parties!!!!! Yes, the Meadow Party is back (no, I'm not throwing one yet). Last summer I threw a net party, simply to meet the people in the area. Living in Silicon Gulch, I should have rented a convention center because I ended up with over 50 people showing up (in a one bedroom apartment, I might add-- very friendly). I actually got a few strange people from other areas as well, including San Diego, Portland, Austin, and one strange person from New Jersey... Well worth it, actually. chuq -- From the ministry of silly talks: Chuq Von Rospach {allegra,cbosgd,hplabs,ihnp4,seismo}!nsc!chuqui nsc!chuqui@decwrl.ARPA Life, the Universe, and lots of other stuff is a trademark of AT&T Bell Labs
