Is there a way to tell how much memory a PC will need to run a program?

I am using the C86 C compiler with IBMs link program.

My guess is that when the LINK program displays the list of segments,
I just find the longest "Length" segement, and that is the memory
requirement of the program.

Is that right?

Thanks.
