Actually, no, both the PC and XT have the socket for the 8087.  In
addition, I see no reason why a disk controller would require plugging
in a ROM into the PC, it could just as easily put the ROM on the
controller board.....Supposedly, there is code in MSDOS to check
certain locations for the existance of ROM-based controller firmware.
