I'd have to say yes, women do ask first nowadays. I know that I have been approached first several times during the last 5 years or so. However, in every case, it was only after the female had determined that there might be an interest in her. They weren't always sure but the usual comment I got was that they had seen me around, found out that I was available, and then decided that they were going to manage to set up a situation in which I would be receptive. some things that they did were to go to lunch with the same group of people I was going with, invite me to a party, show up at the same going away party for someone, etc. These were mostly ones I worked with. Also, sometimes in lounges I would be asked to dance (slow dances), and then be asked about my status, and things like that. On occasion I would be asked what I was doing later on (that night) and so on.. .....decwrl!rhea!tonto!alanurm
