The trick with Doom in S. Wars (I'll let y'all fill in the 'S') is that
Shooter just does not have much grasp of the character (or of any other, in
my opinion).  I agree, I find Doom ill-done in this issue; Byrne & Marv
Wolfman are the ones who seem to script Doom the best.  Also, Byrne uses the
character with restraint... he doesn't pop up every time you turn around
(Wolfman used the Frightful Four every five issue).

In conclusion, I'd say take anything in Secret Wars with a large grain of
salt.  Or perhaps acid.
