Dear Mr. Right-wing John Bircher,

Just a little point of information for you, unlike guns, bazookas and
n-pound crossbows, cheese knives have uses other than killing things
which could not be easily killed with one's bare (unaided) hands. I
personally prefer to use mine with gouda, and wouldn't dream of taking
it into a McDonald's and blowing people away.

Though I have no personal stand on the matter of outlawing guns, I do
think that Freud would probably agree that people who like to shoot
guns (and probably crossbows) are probably more aroused by the symbolic
penetration of their prey than they are with the "sport."

I admit that archery is a good sport for developing concentration, focus
and strength but I don't go out of my way to molest living creatures for
fun.

Anyway, to get back to the subject, If you can give me one genuine USEFUL
purpose that a gun can be put to in our "modern" society, I will gladly
rush right out and buy one of those keen little UZI submachine guns
modified for semiautomaticivity, file down or remove whatever has to be
altered to make it spray however many rounds per second it is capable of,
and perform my USEFUL (i.e. socially responsible) service.
