We are completing our second machine (the S-1 Mark IIa) and are working on the design of its successor. In addition to porting UNIX to the S-1, there is an operating system development effort underway (it is called Amber). The S-1 project is unclassified; the choice of the same name as the early Manhattan Project is coincidental. There is no connection between the S-1 project at LLNL and the recently-advertised S1 operating system. -- John Bruner (S-1 Project, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) MILNET: jdb@mordor.ARPA [jdb@s1-c] (415) 422-0758 UUCP: ...!ucbvax!dual!mordor!jdb ...!decvax!decwrl!mordor!jdb
