If you set your terminal in lcase (I know it's gross) and cbreak mode
at the same time, and type a backslash (presumably to type an upper case
character), some read returns an error so csh thinks you typed a ^D.
Furthermore, if you telnet or rlogin somewhere and type a backslash
(telnet and rlogin both set cbreak), you get disconnected.  Anybody
seen a fix for this?
