Most of us have heard of Tehachapi, I believe: Humphrey Bogart tells Mary
Astor that's where she'll be spending a few years for the shooting of his
partner. Former site of a women's prison, which fell down in a quake in the
40's (or so).  {In the book, Sam Spade says "San Quentin".}

Now for the net.singles content: Tehachapi is a lovely town (if you like
places like Pearblossom*, Littlerock (CA), Quartz Hill, Rosamond, all of which
are to be appreciated for their melodic names, and abundance of dust), which is
probably best described as "The Gateway to Bakersfield from China Lake". There
are many apple orchards here.
