He did not flaunt it in words, but his speech patterns and movements and dress were nearly flaming. The fellow was the brunt of many behind-the-back jokes and for all I know some "practical" jokes. Although I sometimes cringed when he came close to observe my work (primarily due to his smoker's breath), he turned out to be an excellent teacher and an interesting fellow. Whenever I'd visit the high school after graduation (when in town) and run into him, he remembered who I was and seemed glad to hear of my progress. Hence, ONE example of a discreet gay teacher who has not kept his job all this time for nothing. I admit, though, it is possible that he had some situation with a student aside from me knowing... (He never got picked on directly, however. Kids also knew he was a blackbelt in Karate!). Scott Collins ATT - Bare Rubber Trees
