From the male end of the stick, I might say the same things, with
appropriate gender swaps.  In general, it sure is comforting to
know that at least some of the feelings one has are duplicated in
the other person.

I do, however, agree with Andi Salzman regarding asking anyway. 
Many people view not trying as equivalent to not failing. 
However, if you're looking at SUCCEEDING rather than at NOT
FAILING, the only way to succeed is to try.
