The S-1 project at LLNL is engaged in supercomputer research. We
are completing our second machine (the S-1 Mark IIa) and are
working on the design of its successor. In addition to porting
UNIX to the S-1, there is an operating system development effort
underway (it is called Amber).  The S-1 project is unclassified;
the choice of the same name as the early Manhattan Project is
coincidental.

There is no connection between the S-1 project at LLNL and the
recently-advertised S1 operating system.
