Don't give up on your current boots if they don't have Vibram soles
(per Steve Robertshaw's posting). My last set started with leather soles,
but when they wore thin I had them replaced with Vibram, at a cost of about
$20. Went through three sets of Vibram before the uppers got too beat up
to make it worth it. Any decent shoe repair shop can handle the job, and
it's definitely worth it.
