That's a GREAT idea!  I would love to have some sort of heuristic in
readnews that would make a guess at what portion of the tail of an article
was the signature, and not show it to me.  There would, of course, be
some instances where it guessed wrong or where I really wanted to check
the signature to see if it contained a useful mail address.  But having
it thrown away most of the time would be worth the extra work of reprinting
the article whenever I really did want to see the last few lines.
(Even at 19200 baud, they are annoying once I've seen the same one
more than twice.)
