I recently saw an editorial which took some pains to point out that Ronald
Reagan's age ought not to be an issue.  It carried a photo of the geezer
uh, I mean gipper (thank you, Mike Peters:-) holding a football aloft as if
to pass it, and looking to be in fine form.

Small comfort, that.  I don't worry about his physical abilities; FDR
seemed to manage at least passably from a wheelchair for quite a while.

I'm worried about his mental abilities, and I don't care whether it's age
or something else that's his problem - but shit, anyone who's been an
actor and is a public figure ought to be damn careful about what he says in
front of a microphone, whether he THINKS it's live or not.  Maybe I should
be glad for this glimpse into how the man works, but I'll only feel good
about it if it keeps him from getting reelected (which it won't).
