Ok, I'm sure this group is very opinionated, so here's your chance
to tell me what's "best". I'm in the market for a bike. I have very
little idea what to buy, or how much to expect to spend. Here's a little
info on what I want it for. Riding will be confined to city streets and
short lengths of highway. A typical ride will be to or from work, which
is less than 5 miles. I doubt that my total weekly milage will amount to
more than 100 miles, unless I discover I really enjoy it.

What should I expect to spend for something that will be nice enough that
I will want to ride it instead of taking my car? I don't want to go hog
wild on this stuff. Is $200-$250 a reasonable guess? Perhaps I should
expect to spend $300? Anything in particular to look for in bikes in my
price range? Anything to avoid?

Thanks for your help,
