If you go to a SF con (or anyplace, really) to meet women, then you'll be disappointed. If you go to meet people who happen to share your interests you won't be, and since some percentage of those you meet will be female you'll meet them as well. A lot of it is how you involve yourself in the con (not part of the con neccessarily, but what you put into it and get out of it). My personal interest is in the costuming so I make it a point to talk with the makers of the costumes that I appreciate (which are not always the winners. EVERYONE talks to the winners...). I've met a number of interesting people that way, picked up a number of hints along the way, and had a good time. To date, none of them have turned into something that carried past the con, but then I wasn't doing it just for that reason, so I wasn't disappointed. It's all a matter of what you put in and what you expect out. Enjoy yourself, and don't try to push fate in directions she's not ready to move. -- From the depths of the Crystal Cavern: Chuq Von Rospach {amd,fortune,hplabs,ihnp4}!nsc!chuqui (408) 733-2600 x242 One more time from the top.
