The length of time it takes a "dark contusion" to heal depends upon the
age of the individual. I've seen a 1 yr old shake a heavy bruise in
days while a similar bruise stayed on a 40 yr old for months and on
a 90 yr old forever (now 102 yrs old!). I suspect all of this depends
upon the circulation and cell-count so that face and thigh bruises would
take a long time while chest and arm contusions would heal faster ( this
sentence is just a guess).
