Niven himself wrote a script for the animated show that was an adaptation of his Known Space story "The Soft Weapon" (which is in his collection NEUTRON STAR). It was amusing to see Spock take the place of Nessus. Also, other animated episodes made reference to the Kzinti. In one of the STAR TREK LOG books (which adapt the animated episodes), I think it was #5, Alan Dean Foster mentions that the Caitians (of which the alternate communications officer, Lt. M'Hress, is one) are another branch of the same race that produced the Kzinti, a la the Vulcans and the Romulans. --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC, Maynard, MA) UUCP: {decvax|ihnp4|allegra|ucbvax|...}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-akov68!boyajian ARPA: boyajian%akov68.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA
