The bombing begins in five minutes. > Ronald Reagan > Saturday, August 11, 1984 What disturbed me was not the joking with reference to nuclear war (who among us was offended by the Bloom County strip whose punch line was "Shall we dust Moscow, Mr. President?"). There is nothing wrong with dark humor. However, what makes me sick is that it was NOT dark humor, and that Reagan seems to view the removal of Russia from the planet as an event he would not regret. His use of Russia, rather than Soviet Union, indicates he is talking of the annihilation of a people/ culture/nation instead of the bloody defeat of a government/idealogy.
