< The Childlike Empress is sick, /and without her Fantastica will die... >

| The book has been around a long time. My mother said that she read it as
| a child.

How old ARE you, Chris? The Neverending Story was written by Michael Ende
in 1976-7 and published in Germany in 1979 as "Die unendliche Geschichte."

Unless you are a time traveller or an incredible prodigy, your mother can
only have read the actual story. What did she name the Childlike Empress?

Or maybe she read some of Ende's other stories, "Jim Knopf and Lukas the
Engine Driver" or maybe "Momo" . . . all published in the 60s and 70s.

A possibility, not mentioned in the book biog, is that Ende might have
done earlier versions of the Story as a play, perhaps? He was an actor
and playwright for several years in the '50s (been around since 1929).
