A recent ad in CACM for cs professors at King Saud Univ. in Riyadh uses
'his/her' and 'he/she' to refer to applicants. I suspect that this is
was only put in in order to conform to CACM ad stnds.

Does anyone know if they are serious about women applicants? Are women
allowed to teach there? I have been told that American women, in
particular, are unwelcome in Saudi Arabia because in the recent past
they have caused many problems. Does anyone know?
