For all of those who LIKE Howard Cosell, phooey. The guy just cannot
call a boxing match. It is like watching two different fights. Howard
calls a left and the gut just threw a right. The guy is staggered by
a punch and Howard says it missed. His running commentary never matches
what is being shown on the screen. His aside remarks during the fight
are enough to gag a maggot. Sure he can be biased, but not to the
point of blindness about what is happening. Howard has MADE Mark
Breland. If I were Breland, I would feel compeled to give Howard
10% of all my earnings from here on out. (As an aside, Breland
ain't as good as his press clippings.) I, for one am delighted
that old rug head is not going to be regurgitating his asinine
comments on Monday night football or baseball anymore. I complained
to ABC the very first night he appeared on Monday night football, and
have continued to do so over the years. Whenever he calls a fight,
I turn off the sound so that I can follow the action without his
?insight?. The man is a joke. If he wasn't married to one of
Roone Arledges kin, how far do you think he would have gotten?
In my opinion, Bob Uecker's missing that foul ball a few months
ago was a great piece of work. It has shut the mouth up ever
since.
