Phila., Pa. Lines: 30 The sportscasting by ABC to date has been rather shoddy. They seem to love incompetence in the broadcasting booth. It completely escapes me how *anyone* can tolerate Howard Cosell. As an ex Cricket Fan (That's a game played over 5 days which can alternate between being immensely thrilling or incredibly dull), I was interested in comparing American TV commentary to the Commonwealth variety seen in Cricket. The touring teams that came to India would always bring a commentator along with them. The home commentator and the guest commentator would alternate at the microphone during the game delivering the 'running commentary'. Objectivity was something to be striven for, though the inexperienced sportscasters would sometime raise the pitch of their delivery, etc. whenever 'their' team did something spectacular. For the record, the best sportscaster I have ever heard in all the sports I have followed, was a West Indian Cricket commentator by the name of Tony Cozier. He was extremely knowledgable, articulate, and impartial. Oh Well! Any other ex Cricket fans out there? Anyone else understand what I am talking about? -- Binayak Banerjee {allegra | astrovax | bpa | burdvax}!sjuvax!bbanerje P.S. Send Flames, I love mail.
