I'm afraid that I rather resent inuxc!mcferrin's allegation that I rigged
the date on that article !! :-)

We do occasionally get screwed up dates here too - there was a bug at ukc
a while back which was doing this, though I'm not sure if it's ukc doing it
again. Anyone there care to comment ?

Oh yes - thanx to all the folks who replied to my query. The upshot of this
is that if you have vnews, use `w' to save the article without headers,
otherwise use one of the hacks published (there were a few sent to me as
well, so if you want them, let me know). This does not solve the problem of
signature lines though - let's see a standard for shar file starts and ends!

(BTW - the method which detects `From' lines is not suitable here, since
ukc and some other news gateways insert `From' lines in strange places)
