Sadly enough, it showed a very rosy picture of illegal aliens. The housing, the ease of finding employment, and the relatively easy assimilation into American culture falsely conveyed the plight of the illegal aliens. The director has admitted to this and stated that he only wished to make a movie that was emotional honest. That emotional honesty is what makes "El Norte" a good if not great movie. Lorenzo De Leon
