Yes, let's get back to basics.  480 bytes = 4800 bits,
if we are talking about an asynchronous line (one start bit,
8 data bits, and one stop bit).  This results in 16 seconds
at 300 baud.  It is also possible to have two stop bits,
which would mean 480 bytes = 5280 bits, requiring 17.6 seconds.
(It might be more precise to call say seven data bits and one
parity bit, rather than eight data bits, but that doesn't change
the total, and whether the eighth bit is data or parity depends
on the protocol in effect at the time).
