Lines: 24 [Reprinted without permission from LA times,] [August 11, 1984 -- Calendar section. ] A supposedly international occasion has been turned into a flag-waving local meet by jingoistic ABC coverage. By day 2 I was bored, and each day increases my irritation and reduces my viewing. I will now buy nothing with the Beatrice label, never go to McDonald's and drink no Coca-Cola. Heavenly Koh Wilson (Los Angeles) I might add that the dose of ABC's all American propaganda is not much different from Soviet's propaganda. The difference probably lies in that Soviet propaganda is government paid, while American propaganda is paid for by the private enterprises. It's interesting to speculate what would happen if the Korean TV takes the same attitude as ABC -- During the 1988 games, we will only be able to see events where there's a Korean entry ... AND the whole 1988 games will be covered in Korean!. -- Alex Pang ARPA: pang@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA UUCP: ...!{cepu,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!pang
