Lines: 17 Yesterday (Thursday, 9 August), I was watching Olympic weightlifting. They were doing the "clean-and-jerk" (where the barbell is brought up first from the ground to the shoulders, then over the head in a sep- arate motion). After an Australian super-heavyweight did the lift that (I believe) got him the gold medal, the ABC commentator praised the athlete's superior technique by saying, "What a jerk!" If the weightlifter had heard that little laudatory comment, I suspect he would probably have "clean-and-jerk"ed the ABC commentator! :-) -- Rich Wales UCLA Computer Science Department 3531 Boelter Hall // Los Angeles, CA 90024 // (213) 825-5683 ARPA: wales@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA UUCP: ...!{cepu,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!wales
