once again the discussion of a political issue has gotten
way off track.  the last version of the minimum wage legislation
i read stated that it applied only to teenagers (ie. your parents'
income will not be cut below minimum wage) and only to the
summer months.  while the purpose of the minimum wage may be to
assure that a person earns enough to live above the poverty line,
why does a 16 year old need to earn that much? is he paying rent?
utilities? for most/any of his meals?  probably not.
most of the working 16's i know blow there $3.50 an hour on
junk food, video games, and the movies.  let supply and demand
(and unions) set wages, not politicians.
