As regards the question of the meaning behind NCC-1701/7, I believe the "7"
refers to the fact that the Galileo is the Enterprise's seventh shuttle. In
the blueprints of the Constitution-class starship, it is, I believe, stated
that the standard complement of shuttlecraft is seven.
