There are no bears indigenous to either region in which these men could 
be hunting.  Someone must have brought a bear along in order to make the hunt 
more interesting.  (Or, Maybe it was a penguin colored bear.  But even that
would require a trek of more than 50 miles.)  Of course there are an infinite 
number of possible starting points, all but one are in a small region.
