What disturbed me was not the joking with reference to nuclear war
(who among us was offended by the Bloom County strip whose punch line
was "Shall we dust Moscow, Mr. President?"). There is nothing wrong
with dark humor. However, what makes me sick is that it was NOT dark
humor, and that Reagan seems to view the removal of Russia from the
planet as an event he would not regret. His use of Russia, rather than
Soviet Union, indicates he is talking of the annihilation of a people/
culture/nation instead of the bloody defeat of a government/idealogy.
Does this mean he does not see a difference between war and genocide?
