AT&T-Bell Laboratories does have an active Affirmative Action program which
makes it unlike the "real" world.  But it's not "excellent".  Just look at
the number of women and minorities in the Cabinet( 1 woman, ? minorities of 
approx. 30 people).   I don't have statistics, but the women/minority
representation in mid/upper management is not impressive either.

But compared to stories I hear from other companies(from both management and 
non-management),  AT&T-Bell Labs is a better place to work.
