I don't, however, agree with this notion. There still remains a great need for UNIX systems and software and I suspect that this need will remain constant for several years. Living and working in the Washington area (one large military base) I can say, for certain, that UNIX is and will remain a very important element in computer systems and services for the Federal Government. There seems to be this misconception that ADA was supposed to be the end all language and environment for computing for the military. Unless I'm mistaken ADA was meant only to serve specialized programming needs and that other operating systems such as UNIX would become the defacto standards for generalized systems and facilites. I do agree, though, that there are a great many applications where UNIX could be somewhat less than ideal. Perhaps we could see some more details about S1 on the net. David Geller rlgvax!geller
