Well, I'm a man, and I wore eyeshadow out dancing once.  It was fun,
I felt shocking and glitzy.  I haven't had the nerve to do it since,
but I've kept the eyeshadow.

I think makeup is sort of ceremonial -- why should it look "natural"?
If I wanted to look natural, I'd wear untanned dog skin; ARTifice is
part of the human condition.

In some instances, makeup and all that stuff is an occasion for 
female bonding (like bars && locker rooms for men).

Bicycle racers shave their legs.  Ostensibly, it's to make bandaging 
easier when you fall down, but I think it's vanity really.
