Lines: 83 And here it is! The survey that net.singles has been waiting for! THE RENT SURVEY. I have been compiling rents from all over the country. Some areas are obviously better represented than others. For instance, I have no information on rents in Wyoming, Florida, Maine, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, or Arizonia, among others. In order to graph the rents by area I broke the country into 7 areas. They are: 1 New England - MA, CT, NH 2 Middle Atlantic - NJ, NY 3 South - VA, TX, NC 4 Midwest - IL, IN, MI, WI, OH 5 Rocky Mtn. - CO 6 Pacific Northwest - WA, OR 7 West - CA The following graph shows how the rents fell according to location. Not all the rents are for 1 bedrooms; there are some 2 bedrooms thrown in, and a few condos. 200- -2-6-7 -5-6-6-6 -3-4-6-6-7 300-4-4-5-6 -2-3 -1-1-4-5-7 -2-2-3-7-7 400-2-4-4-4-7 -2-2-4-7-7-7 -1-2-2-2-2-3-7 -1-2-2-2-2-5 500-1 -4 -2-2-7 - 600-5 -7 - - 700+2 As you can see most of the NY/NJ rents fall in the $450 to $500 zone. And rents in CA are also high compared to the rest of the country. The next graph shows what the rents were for studio, 1 or 2 bedroom apartments.
