ABC is a business. They do not broadcast stuff that people don't want to hear. Americans love to hear that they are the best. David London ..!ihnp4!oddjob!london /* ---------- */ David, From what I've seen on the net, you're wrong. The net is an admittedly small sample, but nearly everybody who had anything to say flamed at ABC for their coverage. I gave up on the ABC coverage after two evenings. They make the olympics far too much of a nation-vs-nation event. Something in the line of thought "We won more medals than you, so we're better than you" seems broken, especially when most of the events are individual events. Personally, I think the Soviet block had the right idea - withdraw from the olympic games (looks like their going to be gone in '88, too). The charade of a "amateur, non-political" olympics every four years is silly. The '88 olympics will probably be the fifth (or more? Did I miss something at the '68 olympics when I was only?) marred by "political statements". The Greeks had the right idea - they stopped the games when they became too political. We should follow suit, and just stop the silly things completely.
