I second Ken's comments.  It makes me very sad and sometimes angry that
there are people who cannot distinguish between patriotism and
jingoism.  I am very proud of my country, as I expect most people on
the net are of theirs, and I am happy that our athletes are doing well
in the Olympics (though I am not really a sports fan).  I also share
the American athletes' congratulations to those competitors who have
won prizes in Los Angeles, regardless of their nationality ... they all
have competed well and have earned their prizes.

I sometimes have a hope that the "Ugly American" image will someday be
laid to rest, and that people of whatever country will view people of
this country as people and see the warmth and beauty that I find in the
individuals of this country.  Then some jackass like 
"DW @ ...!ihnp4!tellab1!heahd" blows this fantasy all to hell.
