Not only do you not have to buy a new cable, you also don't have to buy new
sockets.  Simply remove any keys in the sockets and reverse them!  The side
of the connectors that was the 17 grounds now carry all 17 signals, while
the signal side now provides 14 ground runs (which should be adequate!).

Don't stick in any disks until you verify the cable is on correctly (this
means that the drives do not remain selected when power is applied) since
a backwards cable will cause the current track on a disk to be erased.
