One might think that having three competing networks cover the Olympics would
give the viewer a better selection of programs to choose from.

One might also think that having three competing networks would give the
normal prime time viewer a better selection of sit comms to chose from. 

You would have triple coverage of the popular events and no coverage of the
rest.
