Never having been a DM for a fantasy/role-playing game, I am
not familiar with the meaning of 1d6 vs. 2d6 vs. 1d3 and other indications of
how conflicts are resolved between the adventurer and monsters.
I wonder if someone could explain these codes for hits to me. Similarly,
why are some weapons +2,+1, while others are +0,+0? What
is the difference between an arrow and a +0,+0 arrow? What
is the difference between scale armor AC6 and +1 ring mail AC6?
How do I know if a two-handed sword is better than a +2,+1 mace?

Is there a simple way to find out? Also, are there other things
that are similar I might not know about but could stand to learn?
I have just started playing rogue, and am confused by these nomenclatures.

I think replying to me would be best, and if there are many requests
for copies of the replies from other neophytes, I will post the results.

Many thanks, -- Clark
