As for the quality of the CBS Masterworks CDs: I have had no difficulties
whatsoever.  I have two Bolling suites that are flawless (other than the
tape hiss of the original analog master).  Of course, this may just mean
that the QC/QA is better for compact discs than LPs.  All the CBS/Sony
CDs are currently manufactured in Japan, for what it's worth.  By the way,
the performances are very good too.  I especially like the Bolling/Rampal
suite for flute and jazz piano (MK33233).
