{ Jim Kirk is not a crook }

Nixon didn't have anything happen to him. Nah...he only lost his job.

Shouldn't Jim also lose his job?

Okay, okay, I admit it. I haven't read the book. I love how weak Starfleet
is with it's security if they are going to trust some crazy guy's word who is
flying around in a Klingon Battle Cruiser.

"Hi Star Fleet Control, this is Jim Kirk."

"Yes, Mud, go right ahead."

"Kirk. You know. Admiral Kirk. Anyway, I blew up that ship that I stole
 and I just stole this Klingon 'Bird of Prey'. I'm going to be taking Spock
 to Vulcan, now. If you see this 'Bird of Prey', it is only me. Don't shoot,
 okay?"

"Who is this really? Am I on 'Candid Camera'?"

See? For all Star Fleet knew, there was a Klingon standing right behind Saavik
sticking a phaser in her ear and saying "Now, then, sweet thing. Tell Starfleet
that we are cool dudes or I'm going to fry your brains."

So, what you're telling me is Star Fleet just let them through because Saavik
called up and said it was okay?

Damn, I hope there is a battle. Those boys DESERVE to lose.
