Ed is right: there are lots of reasons to wear makeup.
Having had stage makeup training, I am aware that there are many
illusions that can be artfully created with understated makeup.
I wear it to cover discolorations under my eyes (proto-bags),
cover pimples (not as often any more, but I still wish puberty
had enough sense to know when it was beaten), and conceal puffiness
around my eyes in the morning (I always wake up with sinus congestion).

Results? I've been told several times, "Boy, am I glad you
don't wear makeup!" And whenever I want to LOOK sick (to get
out of something, or whatever), I leave off the makeup and people
say, "You really look tired today!"

By the way, I've never been accused of compensating for a lack
of personality by using makeup.

Pooh

"There they go! I must hurry and catch up with them; for I
am their leader."
