A certain man wished to build a fireplace in his home. Being a very
precise, meticulous man, he carefully drafted his design and calculated
the amounts of all the materials he would need. In doing so, he
found that his project would require exactly 199 bricks.

He then went to the local building supply store and began collecting
the materials. When it came time to buy the bricks, the clerk told
him he could not purchase exactly 199 bricks, but he would have to
get a lot of 200.  He protested that he had no use for the last brick;
why should he endure the expense of something he did not need? An
argument ensued, but our friend eventually backed down, muttering
protest all the way.

Well, he set about building his fireplace, and sure enough, when he
was done, he had one brick left over. He picked it up, stared at it,
and all the rage and frustration he had experienced in the store began
to resurface. His hand clenched the brick; beads of sweat formed on
his furrowed brow, and the color left his knuckles. Finally, in a
burst of impassioned energy, he hurled the brick into the sky. And
you know what happened?

The brick never came down!
