"subtractive" colors.  My understanding was that mixing blue
and yellow paints gives green because *subtracting* from
white light both spectra leaves green to be reflected.  (Blue
paint subtracts most everything but around blue, similarly for
yellow paint.)  This is different than combining blue and yellow
light beams, which is *additive*.
