Tuesday was the Colorado national monument stage of the Coors
classic. Colorado National Monument is a beautiful park outside
of Grand Junction Colorado in the western part of the state.

The womens race is one lap through the park for 48 miles.
Connie Carpenter won it in 1982 averaging 24.54 mph and won
it again this year. It started with a clear two woman breakaway on
the up hill into the park and finished with Connie pulling
away to win in solo style.

The men run the same course through the park but loop twice.
Their race is 90 miles. The Columbian Fabio Parra took off again
and a chase was started by two americans (Alexi Grewal, I think, and someone
I can't remember at the moment). The americans chased
him down and then wore him down. "We punched his ticket", remarked
one of the riders. Alexi came over the line first in a sprint.
