My apologies to anyone that tried it and had trouble. It certainly never occurred to me that such a simple patch might be machine dependant! Having used the "solution" so many times and never encountering a problem, I was surprised to get mail to the contrary. Sure enough, I checked it out on a couple of friends systems and found one that didn't work. In particular this was a Heath system. I know their BIOS is a little different, but that's no excuse. If the patch worked for you, great. If not, try changing only one or the other of the jumps I identified. In the mean time, I will try to figure out what is going on just as soon as this quarter is over at the UW (this friday), so stay tuned for "The Final Solution: Part II". Let's see now... where did I put that disassembly.... Erik Lindberg AKA del ...!uw-beaver!teltone!dataio!del ( I used to call myself a hacker.... )
