Geez, Cubbie fans will never cease to amaze me. Having lived in
Chicago, and seen the Cubs in all their futility (my first year
there was '79, when they were in first place at the end of
AUGUST, yet finished about 10 games (!) back of the Pirates),
I KNOW the Cubs will fade. The only question is, will the Mets
fade faster? Perhaps the Phillies will take it...

Cubs fans are the bravest, most loyal, most martyred, and most willing
to forgive fans in the world. They're also the most hopelessly
optimistic. Why should this year be different than the last 40?

By the way, it isn't going on the road that normally kills the Cubs,
it's having to play day games at Wrigley field all thru August and
September. It can get mighty hot...
