While there's nothing available to run DECNet on Unix, my VMS UUCP
will allow your Unix system to communicate easily with your VMS
systems, thusly avoiding the "island" effect you fear. It also
will let your VMS sites communicate with other UUCP sites if
you'd like. The current plan is for DEC to distribute this
software, by the way.

Before I start cheering for the VMS "uucp", which can hopefully make some
of life a little easier for some friends STUCK with VMS, let me ask the
all-important question:

If DEC is going to distribute it, what's in it for them? How
	much will it cost?

It wouldn't be very nice if DEC charged $5000 for a "new dialup-network
facility" that turned out to be Lauren's uucp. (This isn't a shot at Lauren,
but a reply hoping that the VMS "uucp" is available to [poor] universities
at moderate cost.)
