The note about recovering from close relationships reminded me of this:
I was at a dinner forum about relationships in college, and got thirty seconds'
worth of advice to live and love by:

"When you are in a close relationship, you tend to focus your life
around it. Then, when the relationship ends (bless you if it doesn't!),
that focus is gone, and your life seems devastatingly empty. The way to
avoid that calamity is to remember that, in each relationship, there should
be three parties: ME, YOU, and US. As long as you have ME, you'll survive
intact when YOU and US go away. Make sure the other person feels the same
way, or s/he will take the eventual downfall as hard as ever, and that's bad
for both of you."

Just thought I'd share that. An ounce of prevention...
