SIGNS OF UNIX SUPPORT SEEN COMING FROM IBM,
Computerworld, Jan. 23, p. 6. IBM's
announcement of a UNIX-based operating system
for its Personal Computer was a powerful
endorsement of the multiuser microcomputer and
programmer workstation concepts. Many
observers see the introduction of the
computers as part of an overall game plan to
support UNIX across the entire line. "We are
all waiting for the other shoe to drop, says
one expert, "when IBM says it will support UNIX
through its entire product line, that will be
the really important announcement."
