I'm not sure what Mr Thayer meant by "too stiff for ...",
but I did have a Pickering XSV3000, which I cleaned regularly
using a Discwasher Stylus Cleaner, fail after just a bit over
a year. The sound in one channel just dropped out altogether.
A lot of cable swapping convinced me that the cause is
internal to the cartridge.

By the way, does anybody know where I can get the bleeding thing
fixed? All the shops I checked look at me as if I'm trying to get
a junkyard refugee Vega restored or something.
