Eat tasty death, you unAmurrikan wimp! But seriously... Bad country is just as bad as any bad music (Conway Twitty will be crucified next to Paul Anka and Richard Strauss). Country music is intensely commercial, ergo the shit floats to the top. But GOOD C&W has the following characteristics: 1. It uses MELODY - something not in vogue among (even my favourite) current rock and ``classical'' composers. 2. It is sincere. 3. It is indegenous. Buy a record sometime called ``sleepless nights'' - it features Gram Parsons and the young Emmylou Harris and if some of the vocal harmonies don't turn yer heart to water then you ain't got one. Or anything by George Jones. ``Ever since my masochistic baby left me, I got nothing to hit but the wall...''
