I am sorry to bother everyone with yet another, "what kind should
I buy," posting, but it has been six years since I last looked
at new bikes, and I am really clueless.

What I want is a $200-400 bike that can be used to tour on.
I am talking about weekend to month long, 200 to 1500 mile trips.
I have looked at Trek, Univega and Fuji, and so far the
Treks look good but a bit on the expensive side. I put
six years and four thousand miles onto my present Univega,
but it is about dead, and I hear that Univega has gone down hill
since then. Any hints, personal experiences, opinions, or
suggestions would be most appreciated. Please reply by mail.
Thanks in advance,
