The 68000 chip is alive and well and hiding in Reno Nevada.
Have just returned from the sage Faire.  Sage is donig nice
things with the 68000 now, software is developing nicely, and
there is a good upward compatibility path to bigger and better
things and super micros.  I am no longer so confident of the
8086 familiy winning out...
