The responses to why Superman destroyed his Fortress of Solitude
at the end of Superman II reminded me of another question which
occurred to me as I watched. The 3 villains from Krypton were
apparently knocked off the Fortress into the ice (sea??), never
to be seen again. Can it be that Superman violated his oath
never to destroy life? (Yes, I realize that there were any
number of inconsistencies between the movie and the comic books,
but this one seemed like a biggee.) Since the TV version went
to the trouble of having Luthor carted off by the authorities
(BTW, whose authorities WERE they??), they could as easily have
had the Kryptonian bad guys carted off as well. Seems like a
loose end that the movie decided to ignore rather than deal with.
