Lines: 36 In a recent article by Sharon Badian in net.singles I take exception to the following: > American women ( as in U S) ... Boy, this makes me mad. Contrary to the U S doctrine of Manifest Destiny every man, woman, and child that lives on North Amecica does not consider themselves Americans. I live in Canada, and therefore am Canadian. I live in North America therefore I am North American. I do not live in the U S of A, therefore I am not American. This type of statement causes me to sweat profusely under my thermal underwear, stomp my muck-lucks in the snow, and generally spit hockey pucks. How many times have you heard Peter Jennings say: ' The small American town of Elliot Lake, Ontario ...' or Tom Brocaw (sp) state: ' Thirty five hundred Americans are out of work in Swan Hills, Alberta...' We non-American North Americans regard 'American' to mean 'American', ( as in U S ) is superfluous. Be nice to us. Remember, we live between you and the Russians. How would you like it if we moved?! Alaska would float away! - Another Crazy Canuck JGO
