Review of net.flame 1/19 - 1/23 by rabbit!jj

The tailgating flames of last week are slowly changing into a
discussion of the safety of the 55 mph limit, its legality,
the moral fibre of those who defy it, and ways to change it.
Predominant are flames for/against speeding, and flames
for/against requiring slower drivers to yield the left lane
on superhighways regardless of speed. Up and coming is a discussion
of bus speeds, seats, and comfort thereof.

The wombat flames have changed, and appear to be dying out.
The last discussions were to offer a "conservative wombat" for
president in 1984. Flaming about the existance of the wombat
debate seems limited to two or three vocal people.

The legality/morality of the USA is a new topic. Included are
	1) A highly inflamitory article from Canada, critical
of the US and its citizens.
	2) Several very emotional defenses of the US, ranging from
the "Love it or leave it" response to
accusations regarding the intent of the article, to angry
responses claiming that the article was inflamitory.
	3) A burgoning debate on the morality/effects/appropriateness
of sending the US's food surplus overseas, and the effects that it would
have on the farmers, economy, future crops, and most importantly
from the net's viewpoint, the recipients of the food. This one
looks like it will grow.

	Other new topics:
The effects/sense of legalizing and regulating
prostitution, including the effects on "customers" as well
as prostitutes and pimps. Looks like it will be a rather less
emotional argument, except along sin/religion lines.

The sinfulness of New York State, concerning lotteries,
horse racing, OTB, etc. Small runner, with strong feelings.

The economic state of the USA, Reagan's effect on same,
and the desirability of Reaganomics.

(Anti) smoking flames. Looks like the anti's have the
numbers, and the pro's are silent.
