(**blush**) I would go shoot my mouth off, Spencer; look at what I said
in my note:

Notice that I ran the 'tset' straight from the Cshell, NOT from within
the backquotes. So csh never saw the garbage that I "shortened"
to "make it fit the posting neatly". When I REALLY tried it,  with a
"echo `tset -Q -s`", it broke, just like reported. And, yes, our termcap
has "#" AND "[" AND "*" AND "?" in it.   (Never mind.....)
