I know one person (a well-known geophysicist) who turns his mind to
other things as soon as he can extrapolate a minute or so what you're
going to say - you can see his eyes switch off, and them come back on
when the prediction error exceeds a pre-set threshold.  It's a little
eerie until you get used to it.
