In the fall of 1982, I and my boyfriend (now husband)
went to Europe. One night we were in a new-wave disco
in Salzburg Austria and an Austrian couple sat at our table.
We started talking with them, soon the music started,
and the woman asked me to dance. I have danced several times
with my girlfriends, but never with a woman I'd just met.
As it turned out, after watching dancers all night we only saw
3 men on the dance floor while it was crowded with young
women. There were also several women dancing by themselves
or in groups of three.
I couldn't tell if the men were too intimidated to dance
or if they considered dancing to be something 'women' did or what.
By the way, I danced with her and she was a great dancer!
