House Rejects Amendment Offering Celebrity Licenses...AP

Indiana lawmakers rejected an amendment that would have given
motorists their choice of license plates bearing a likeness of
	one of three Hoosier celebrities.

The House rejected a tongue-in-cheek amendment offered by
Rep. Charlie Brown, D-Gary, capitalizing on complaints about
the new rainbow-colored "Wander Indiana" license plates.

Brown said motorists should have a choice of three license plates:
one bearing the likeness of pop singer Michael Jackson, a Gary
native; the other with the picture of American League rookie of
the year Ron Kittle, also from Gary; and a third depicting rock
star John Cougar Mellencamp of Seymour.

>>>	Brown was attempting to amend his proposal into a bill legalizing
>>>	private ownership of tanks and other armored vehicles. When
House Speaker J. Roberts Dailey, R-Muncie, called for a voice vote on
the amendment, Brown's was the only one to be heard in favor of it.
