Ahhh, yes, the USCS Computer Center.

These were the people who put all the terminals on campus on a 
MICOM port-finder (quickly dubbed a port-loser). The prompt
from the MICOM was "WHAT COMPUTER? ".  That's it, just
"WHAT COMPUTER? ".  No helpful message telling you the code names
involved. You just had to know.  

After a while, some literate person changed it to "WHICH COMPUTER? ".
Still no helpful message. 

Eventually, they expanded the range of codes (I don't remember why).
To inform you of this change, the prompt was changed to,

"WHICH COMPUTER (USE NEW CODES)? "

Needless to say, the new codes were not listed.

You just had to find them out yourself.
