I am currently trying to use a small computer to replace a bulky (and
balkey) 9 track recorder and 1970's technology controller to take digitized
image data from an AGA780 Thermovision camera. The data is 8 bits wide, and
comes off a parallel port. At the moment I am using a MTU130 computer (bet you
never heard of that one!) which comes close to being ideal for the job.
HOWEVER... my management refuses to consider buying a dedicated 130
("no more off brand computers"), being sufferers of IBM-itis to a man. Can
anyone out there recommend a favorite computer for this job? The local MIS
people don't keep up with PCs.
	The computer I need must:

	1. Run a decent OS (MS-DOS preferably )
	2. Have C,Pascal, or use 68000 or 6502 assembly language
	3. Provide parallel ports.
	4. Have FAST disks with at least 500k-1M of storage.
	5. Be reasonably rugged and dependable
	6. Be made by a stable, nationally known company
	7. Cost less than $10k (without printer, etc.)

The system will be shock mounted, and will fly in a helicopter, so
number 5 is important. Does anyone out there have any experience with Alpha
Micro and their 68000 systems?
