A few weeks ago I asked for information regarding vt100 emulators.
This article summerizes the replies.

I would like to thank those who took the time to send information.

List of terminal claimed to be vt100 emulators.

AVT Plus $1295
C.Itoh 101 $1000
C.Itoh 101e $XXXX
Cobar $1000
DataMedia Excel 12 $XXXX
DataMedia Excel 14 $XXXX
DEC vt200 $1200
Direct 831 $XXXX
Falco (Fame) 100/132 $XXXX
Microterm Ergo 301 $700
Qume qv-103 $1000
Teletype 5420 $900
Wyse 75 $800
Zenith Z-29 $650

-------------
The C.Itoh 101 terminal received MANY outstanding recomendations.
-------------
The AVT Plus also appears to offer many extra features,
however costs more.
-------------
The terminal I originally asked about, the TVI 970 got several
bad raps. Apparently early versions of the software had problems. No
magic cookies, however. I saw it advertised at $910 from MCD Corp,
313-924-1020.
-------------
Based upon the comments, and the fact that we have about one dozen
Heathkit/Zenith H-19s, we are going to get the Z-29. The only problem
appears to be the nonDEC keypad layout, however that seems like something
we can live with.
-------------
The 'magic cookie' is a 'feature' where one screen position
is required to hold video attributes of the next section of screen
space. Another space is required to get back to normal. As a result,
any section of 'special' characters MUST be surrounded with these
spaces. Things don't look right then, and don't line up as expected.
