A couple of people have been making "Hands Across the Water"
invitations for European newsgroup readers to speak up, in the
interests of finding out how European love lives and attitudes
differ from American ones.

We ought to be careful not to assume that all net.singles readers
and writers are American! Some of us are Canadian, and there are
more (and subtler) differences between American and Canadian mores
than is always realized. (I don't have a handy summary of the
differences to quote, I'm afraid, but I believe that they exist,
and that they'll sometimes influence our attitudes to life-and-love
questions of the kind discussed here.)

I would be delighted to read comments about the differences between
American and Canadian 'singles' attitudes. Maybe the Canadians
who are regular contributors should flag their articles with a
maple leaf? (Laura and JAMacmullan please note.)
