I don't recall which instances have come up on the net (besides the original in "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"), but "Blazing Saddles" worked it in nicely. Also a horrible (made-for-TV?) film called "Getting Wasted", where a critical plot twist depends on a character saying "Matches! We don' (...etc.)" and getting beaten up by insulted Hispanics. (The character has just seen this Bogie film, you see...) For some reason this line sticks in peoples' minds. Once, after "Sierra Madre" had shown at Dartmouth, someone came in looking for empty printer-paper boxes. Three people turned around and chorused "Boxes! We don' need no stinkin' boxes!" -- the box-hunter was kind of shaken by this. It's been a standard joke ever since... -- Mike Morton USENET: ..!decvax!dartvax!mike or ..!linus!dartvax!mike USMail: c/o Kiewit Computation Center, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH 03755
