Judy,

In response to your call on the net for a mailing list:

Suggestions have come from people on the net that a mailing list
be created for people who have one (or more) of the following
reasons:

1. An interest in keeping men from participating

2. An interest in a support group for women

3. An interest in not having to defend one's views and
    experiences

4. For women who hate men

5. An interest in discussing feminism with people who
have some intelligent background in the subject
rather than having to constantly re-educate those
    who don't

6. Various other reasons

I have the most sympathy with reasons (2), (3), and (5) above,
and would be interested in a mailing list which embodied the
spirit of those items. This does not mean however, that I am not
willing to listen to the opinions of those who disagree with me,
even if they do not have the background in feminism that I have.
There are others on the net who have more education in this area
than I, but I have some definite opinions that I would like heard
and want to extend that courtesy to others.

To directly answer the points you bring up:

1. What would moderation of the group mean?
    If it means censorship, no.
If it means administrative handling of message, and would
make the mailing list easier to use, fine.
If it means pointing out to submitters when their submissions
are not within the boundaries decided upon for the list,
    probably ok.

I am not familiar with mailing lists and how they work
therefore, am unsure of the role of a moderator.

2. I am open on the point of women only vs men/women mailing
& list. I am also open on the question of only feminists.
3. I would prefer that the list be limited to people who are
willing to respect others' views or experiences, but will
go along with the majority on this one.

I am submitting this to net.women.only rather than replying to you
directly.
