Carolina at Chapel Hill Lines: 40 For all of those interested in home schooling, I strongly recommend the following references: Teach Your Own - a book by John Holt. Excellent guide to reasons to home school, answers to very many questions that people have when considering home schooling, methods to go about it, legal hassles, etc. An excellent investment (~$15.00). Growing Without Schooling - This is a newletter put out, also by John Holt, which contains a compendium of extremely valuable information for the home schooler or people who are considering home schooling. It comes out every 2 months and includes articles on current legislation and court cases (nationwide) pertaining to h-s, many articles by home schoolers describing their experiences (the most valuable part of the newsletter, to us - also comprises most of the bulk of the newsletter itself), and in addition it provides a directory of all people (organized by state) who have asked to be put on the list as resource people to contact for home schooling in their area. The directory is quite large, and is put out in its complete form only once a year. The most current directory is GWS issue #36. The subscription rates are: $15 for 6 issues (1 yr), $24 for 12 issues, and $30 for 18 issues. A single issue costs $2.50. Back issues (there are 36 in all since its inception) and an index to the first 30 issues are also available. The address is: GROWING WITHOUT SCHOOLING 729 Boylston Street Boston, MA 02116 Feel free to send me mail if you have any more questions.
