In "Mawdryn Undead", the Doctor is confronted with the possibility of losing his "8 remaining regenerations" (Davison being the 4th regeneration) to save 8 men from living forever (hence "Mawdryn UNDEAD"). It is a well known fact that the Doctor is allowed 12 regenerations (i.e., 13 separate incarnations). The only way I can see that the faces could be the Doctor's is if he were granted some extra regenerations we don't know about. -- Lemon Curry???
