Perhaps the earlier posting about CSI did not mention where the
numbers came from.  Car owners were interviewed, I suppose with
a pre-defined set of questions.  Their cars were all about a year old,
old enough to have had some problems but unlikely to have fallen
apart due to old age.  This seems to me like a good survey method.

Generally the US manufacturers ranked Ford (best), Chrysler, GM, AMC for
the 1982 model year (latest surveyed).
