Real TOPS-10 hackers know that the monitor dot had no space after it, hence .CURTIS, not . CURTIS like in your examples. By the way, we TOPS-10 hackers (at least at Worcester Tech) would call the period a point, pronouncing FOO.FIL foo-point-fil. But I do remember referring to the monitor dot (the monitor was the OS, and the dot was the prompt from the built in command executive, the integral "shell").
