Accordingly, we're going to want to unload our old stuff. Is anybody interested? To go are a pair of 300-megabyte Ampex removable-pack drives, an RM05-compatible Xylogics controller, and a pair of Dysan certified-perfect packs. (Also a pair of old Memorex not-perfect packs, but what they would be good for I don't know.) Huge, fast, sexy Winchesters they are not. (That's roughly what we are buying as a replacement.) But they're respectable drives, and cheap. Heaven only knows exactly what the retail value would be today -- $30k? $40k? -- but we'd probably snap at an offer of $20k and think very seriously about $15k. Considering taxes and similar silliness, life would probably be a lot simpler if the sale was within U of T. Another Ontario university would be second choice. -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
