Isn't it strange that the only BAD NEWS from Lebanon is that the Navy
is firing upon artillery positions in the mountains above Beirut.
Rich Piner doesn't think that the fact that the artillery positions
in the mountains are firing into the city is bad news. He doesn't
think that the fact that civilians in the city are being killed by
the guns in the mountains is bad news. He only believes that the
fact that we are trying to stop the shelling of the city is bad news.
How many 5 inch shells or rockets does it take to equal one 16 inch
shell? How accurate are the guns in the mountains? Why is our defense
of the legal government in Lebanon terrorism? Why isn't lobbing shells
into the city by the Syrians in the mountains terrorism?

Finally, Rich Piner states that the government in Lebanon is almost
defeated anyway so why bother helping them out. If Reagan was a hypocrite
he would do just what Rich wants. Our president promised support to
the government of Lebanon and he is not going to back out of his
promise. I think Rich's last statement summarizes his position on the
integrity of the type of government Rich would like to see in Washington,
"vote early and vote often".
