My GP, OB/GYN (appropriate), optometrist and lawyer all happen to be
women. I have been pleased with their services.

Particularly in the lawyer's case, she took on a convoluted matter
that 3 other (male) lawyers had given up on, and settled it to my
satisfaction. Of course I prefer *her* to the men.

If I felt that they were not as good as any male in the same profession,
I wouldn't still be their client. Solidarity and sisterhood don't wash
when incompetence enters the picture. But solidarity, sisterhood,
and competence is, I think, an unbeatable combination.
