Bangers and mash is (are) what is known to you colonials as sausages
and mashed potatoes. Take any type of link sausages (Oscar Meyer
makes quite acceptable ones), fry them and serve with mashed
potatoes. The general attitude towards bangers and mash that it is
good, solid lumpenproletariat food.

Something more interesting to do with sausages is Toad in the Hole
(don't you just love these names?). Fry your sausages (about a
pound), then cover them, with the drippings, with the same batter as
for a Yorkshire Pudding (one cup milk, one cup flour, a little salt,
mixed well and kept in the refrigerator for at least 1/2 hour), and
cook them in a 375 degree oven for half an hour.
