Guy Tremblay, a graduate student of this department, will speak on ``A Calculus for Communicating Systems'' by R. Milner. TIME: 3:30 PM ROOM: MC 5158A ABSTRACT The talk will be about a calculus whose main goals are to describe the behaviours of concurrent/communicating systems and to be able to prove properties about those behaviours. The meaning of the calculus will be defined both opera- tionally - by mean of reduction rules - and denotation- ally - by giving a model for the notion of non- deterministic behaviours. The calculus will then be used to give a denotational semantics, for an imperative concurrent language. February 7, 1984
