I am currently using an IBM PC with a VT100 emulator from Persoft
(SmarTerm/PC TE100-FT) on 4.1bsd running cmu-emacs. I am having troubles
with some mlisp programs that use 'get-tty-char' when I have the TE100
handshaking enabled.

One of the mlisp programs I would like to run is 'newspell' that was posted
to the net last May by burdvax!puder (Karl Puder). When handshaking (flow
control) is enabled, newspell exits before any of the misspelled words are
processed. When handshaking is disabled, everything functions as advertised.

Does anyone know of any way to have get-tty-char swallow the flow control
characters? (I don't have access to the emacs source.) It seems as if all
the flow control characters are causing some buffer to overflow, which
aborts whatever action is being called for.

It's kind of a bother to have to use the emulator with flow control
disabled. Some of the programs I run require flow control.

Any help will be appreciated.
