The guy who would "know ahead of time when the phone was going to ring"
(so we're told) reminds me of a letter published in an issue
of Electronics Illustrated many years ago.

I can't remember the name of the guy who wrote the column -- he was
a really sarcastic fellow whose first name (I think) was "Tom". (I think
the column was called "Uncle Tom" or some such. Anybody remember?)
Anyway, somebody wrote in a letter that ran something like:

"Dear Uncle Tom,

I have this unusual problem. Sometimes I can hear telephone conversations
in my head. I hear the dialing, ringing, the called party answering
the phone and everything! What should I do?"

Uncle Tom's response was:

"Get an unlisted head."
