If you're serious, look to COLUMBIA-20for some of the documentation, discussions, archives, etc. Or look on your local host KERMIT.*.* for the manual and/or protocol. Basically a packetizing, error-trapping file transfer program that'll work with a VAST number of different systems. The key is each different micro/mini/ mainframe (KERMIT for a 360 even) has its own KERMIT, which understands its own environment. Each KERMIT knows how to use the standard KERMIT protocols to talk with other KERMITs. Sucker works GOOD! Regards, David Kirschbaum ABN.ISCAMS@USC-ISID
