My new house (well, almost new... :-) has an Admiral
refridgerator that seems to be in need of some repair.

I would appreciate any comments on the reasonableness
of fixing this machine (of about 7-8 year age) versus
tossing it.

The only data I can give is:
Compressor is currently drawing 9.5 amps (no typo)
on startup, and about 6.5 running. The no-frost stuff is turned off .
The duty cycle of the compressor is about 65% in winter,
and nearly 100% in summer, this due partly to a bad
door seal, and partly to the sick guts of the machine.
