Truckers are safer than other drivers on the road????!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever talked to a trucker?? I have. (Several of my
friends ARE truckers.)

According to what they are WILLING TO ADMIT, long distance
truckers are about the most UNSAFE drivers on the road. Most of
them drive much longer than the maximum 8 hours allowed by law, and
to stay awake they use illegal drugs (Talk about poor reaction times!).

Have you ever seen a trucker "convoy"? Can you tell me that
they are keeping a safe stopping distance between the trucks? (As
required by law - tailgaters please note) NO WAY!!

Have you ever heard about the driving records of these
"safe" drivers??? 60 minutes had a good show on this about 6 months
ago. In one example they talked about a trucker who ran over a car,
and killed a family of four (The trucker's fault). Upon checking
the police found that he had licenses in eight states, and five had
been revoked. Also, he had been involved in three fatal accidents
previously! (Yes, truckers can, in most states, hold several
licenses legally, unlike auto licenses.)

The best policy reguarding trucks is the statement made by a
truck driving veteran of 30 years at the close of the 60 minutes
segment; "Stay the hell out of their way!"
