I will be conducting an informal course on data manipulations on UNIX
on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1300. The first session will be this
Wednesday (15th) in room 336. The course material will include advanced
use of the UNIX shell (command interpreter), awk (a program well suited
to simple manipulations of data organized in columns), and an introduction
to S (a UNIX statistical package). An important component of the course
will be a discussion of when to use UNIX and when to use some other
computing service (such as SAS) and how to get your data from here to
there.
