I spoke with Mike Siefer of MJS Software, and he confirmed that his new
CCDISK OS-9 device driver uses the device descriptor for all drive-related
info (step rate, 35/40/80tks, single/double sided.) In addition, it will
read and write STANDARD OS-9 format disks as well as the CoCo format.
Formatting standard OS-9 disks apparently requires another version of FORMAT,
which he isn't providing, simply because he didn't have the need to write it.
His driver is only 1 page (256 bytes) larger than the R/S CCDISK.

He is asking $20 for the device driver if you provide a disk, $25
otherwise. I have just sent my check off, so I cannot vouch for the
quality, but the guy sounded sharp, so I took my chances. Clearly, this
is what CoCo OS-9 has needed all along.
