Message-ID: <210@heurikon.UUCP> Date: Sat, 11-Feb-84 14:35:15 EST Article-I.D.: heurikon.210 Posted: Sat Feb 11 14:35:15 1984 Date-Received: Wed, 15-Feb-84 05:24:00 EST Organization: Heurikon Corp., Madison WI Lines: 26 I'm sick and tired of all that junk mail which has the words "PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL" noted on it when all it is is just some offer to spend money. "Personal and Confidential" should be reserved for mail which is truly intended for one's eyes only. Then there's the mail marked "IMPORTANT: OPEN AT ONCE" which usually contains a magazine or sweepstakes offer to which I'm given three months to respond. Those con artists must figure that the only way to get to me is to use gimmicks like that. They figure I've got my secretary tossing my junk mail before it even reaches me. Well, they're right! And first priority for trashing is now given to those P&C and OAO slogans. I look at methods such as this as an insult and an invasion of my privacy. And as such, I throw the cr*p away without opening it. My only fear is that someday I may throw out a really important letter. Sometimes, if my deflector shields are down and one of those things *does* manage to get through, I fill the reply envelope with lots of heavy paper and return it. (Somehow, I don't think that bothers them.) Does anybody know any nifty retaliation techniques? Please post. -- /"""\ Jeffrey Mattox, Heurikon Corp, Madison, WI |O.O| {harpo, hao, philabs}!seismo!uwvax!heurikon!jeff (news & mail) \_=_/ ihnp4!heurikon!jeff (mail - fast)
