Certainly not.  What he did do was write a novel based on the movie
after it was released, incidentally improving the plot logic in the
process.  By the way, this was one of the first, if not the first,
instances of a novelization of a movie appearing in hardcover.  The
producers didn't want to, but Asimov insisted.
