The "Yamaha PF-15 (?)" is probably the Yamaha DX-7, which is a programmable
digital (FM synthesis) synthesizer which lists for ~$2000. It has a velocity-
and pressure-sensitive keyboard. There is also a DX-9, which is slightly less
versatile and doesn't have velocity or pressure sensitivity. I think it lists
for ~$1300. The DX-7 and DX-9 are considered major price breakthroughs in
digital synthesis. I don't know much about their sound, but if you are
interested, there was a demo record stapled into an issue of Keyboard magazine
last summer (I'm not sure which month). A friend of mine is planning to buy
one soon, so if enough people show interest, I'll post a review.
