(Apologies if this appears twice--postnews burped earlier.)

I'm looking for pointers to commercial manufacturers of any
voice-recognition peripherals. Specifically, such a unit must be
capable of converting voice input from a microphone to ASCII strings.
It is acceptable to have to program the unit for individual users.
The device must be a peripheral not requiring any particular bus or
proprietary access method (i.e., RS232, parallel, etc. is desired),
and should not be 'experimental' or a kit. (I know, it's a lot to
ask, but that's what's needed).

Please mail directly to me, and thanks in advance.
