Gee, I don't follow that rule religously, as those who have ridden with
me (those that are still living) will attest.

I will often drive in the left-lane of a four-lane highway if there are
a lot of "acceleration ramps"/entrances; I want the way to be as clear
as possible for the person getting on the road. (Why? Because a lot of
Oklahoma drivers STOP on acceleration ramps if their way isn't clear.)

If there isn't a reason to be in the left lane, however, I default to
driving in the right lane.
