The only real use it has been has been for the roots of so many english words. I'd have gotten the same value from Spanish, and I meet a lot more Mexicanos, Nicaraguenses, etc than I do Romans. Two other known uses for Latin: * Impressing people who are impressed by that sort of thing. * A fellow I used to work with boosted his job security by writing a fairly important piece of software with all the comments in Latin.
