I always thought wars were started by hostility, not by peaceful coexistence.
One of the wars was started by "fascists," which has most of the letters of
"pacifists".  Perhaps that's where you got confused.

If, on the other hand, you mean to say that the hostilities were encouraged by
failure of the people to stand up for their property and kill the nasty
suckers, this is equivalent to the hypothesis that injury is the fault of the
victim, and that women who get raped were "just asking for it."

I refuse to wallow in paranoia.
