I agree with Chuqui that if you have the time to read it, you have
the time to acknowledge it.  Which is why I often have quite a
few *unread* letters in my mailbox.  (Counting Unix-Wizards, which
comes to me over ARPAnet as mail, I've gotten as far as 500 messages
behind.  This is probably about 50-60 `real' messages worth.)

Even a simple `thanks' or `go away' is enough.

The one sin I'm most guilty of is putting a letter aside until I
have time for the long reply I want to give it.  If I were smart
I'd send a `longer letter follows' note, as getting around to
the extended reply always takes longer than expected.

Obviously, from the number of netnews submissions I've been making
recently, finding time isn't a problem at the moment...
