SCATTERSHOT, MK. II

Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the network.

For those of you who didn't notice I just cut off after merely three (3)
miniflames, I did. This was because it seems to be traditional to cut long
flames into hunks, and who am I, a mere modified dog, to f*ck around with
Net.Flame's time-hallowed traditions?

***FLAAAME BACK ON!!!***

4. Re: Supermarkets. Personally, I love 'em. They're so-o-o typical of
modern America in all it's cultural glory. Stephen King pointed out that
a supermarket is a Skinner box; i.e., you have to get past all the impulse
items and things the kids scream "I wanna" for to get at the basics, i.e.,
milk, meat, bread, and beer, which are invariably at the BACK of the store.

I personally shop in a Co-Op which is a bit different. It has the prices and
same goodies as a supermarket, but instead of junk they try to make you buy
health food. This does not satisfy me much more, but it's harder for them
to trick me into buying health food. I like too much junk, and I don't like
much health food.

I do, however, like yogurt. Also falafel. And Familia. But not Vegemite.

So there.

Things I hate about supermarkets:

-- Finding out that they just **HAPPEN** to be out of the advertised special but do have something that costs twice as much.

-- Fifty per cent (or more) of the carts don't have workable baby-holders.
       (My spouse and I have a sixteen-month-old).

-- Frozen food sections that are wide open and cool the whole aisle at a
       simply humongous energy cost.

-- Having to stand in one line to get my check approved, and another line
       to buy my groceries.

-- Lines so long my ice cream (or anything frozen) melts before I can get
it to the car, let alone home. A special pox on this when I buy ice
cubes, as they stick together when I get them into the freezer.

-- Cute supermarket names/slogans. Tell a friend, you should try Alpha
Beta. Co-Op, where people get together. (This one is usually next
to a sign informing me to watch my purse.) Since we're neighbors, let's
be friends, SafeWay. SafeWay, America's Favorite Food Store. And let's
not forget my favorite: A&P's WEO.

5. Re: Wombats. I believe I've mentioned this before, but MOVE IT TO
NET.JOKES. It's not silly enough for Net.Flame.

6. Re: Constitutional Amendments. Personally, I favor Randomocracy, selection
of those who are going to hold public office by random lottery. Everyone of
current voting age would be eligible (but not those who have been convicted of
felonies and major traffic offenses), and you would be required to serve as
per current jury duty, ie, exceptions for **EXTREME** personal hardship. Since
most public offices pay reasonably well, there would not be too much hardship
involved.

7. Re: Cute Cartoon Crucifixions. Cast my vote for He-Man and the whole
Masters of the Universe gang.

8. Re: Computer Magazines. I hate 'em. Only one I read is 'puterworld.
