Most magazines are dated one cycle (or thereabouts) ahead of the date
on the cover (ie. the "February" issue appears in January, the "February 10"th
issue appears February 3rd, etc.). The reason for this is that the date tells
the retailer when that issue is to be taken *off* sale. Of course, some magazines
let this advance dating get out of hand -- comics for instance are dated 4(!)
months in advance.
