 A strange thing happened to me just now. I was playing a version
 of rogue 5.2  and encountered a rust monster on level 8. I assumed
 I had found a treasure room, but no such luck.  I had no cursed
 ring on and did not read an agravate monster scroll either.  so,
 what was the rust monster doing on level 8?  I thought they did
 not appear till level 9.  Is it possible that I was in treasure
 room with many monsters and no treasure?  I found only food, and
 all the monsters (about 5 of them) fought me at the doorway.
